Ok guys what I thought was tranny problems was the clutch it went out last week so now it's time to replace it. I have a 92 conv with pretty mild mods gt40 heads ford racing e cam eldebrock intake manifold 373s in the rear. So I'm trying to not spend a fortune but I want a clutch and flywheel that will hold the power. What do you guys suggest? the car is my daily but will also see mild drag use. I want something I can rely on and not worry if I do take it down the track that it will give out on me. I'm not worried about smoothness or it being to firm just something that will hold up and not kill my wallet. Any help is welcome

I'm thinking this clutch http://www.jegs.com/i/McLeod/673/75103/10002/-1

With this flywheel

But are these strong enough to be reliable? Do I need to upgrade the flywheel or should I just stay with stock quality?

For a street car with you mods, a Ford Racing King Cobra clutch and stock flywheel would be satisfactory. Replace the flywheel ($100) and save the cost of having it Blanchard ground to refinish it.

See http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-7560-E302/ clutch kit $250
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-7548-A/ throwout bearing $52
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-6375-B302/ cast iron flywheel $92

Plan on replacing the stock quarant and cable if you haven't already done so...
See Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 for the following parts.
Ford Racing M-7553-B302 - Ford Racing V-8 Mustang Adjustable Clutch Linkage Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com Cable and quadrant assembly $90
Steeda Autosports 555-7021 - Steeda Autosports Firewall Cable Adjusters - Overview - SummitRacing.com Steeda firewall adjuster. $40

Only if you have a two or three hook aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster.

You can use the OEM racheting quadrant that's on the car if it's not giving you any issues. It's not a necessity that you need to replace it so long as it's still operating like it should.

Yes... it flexes. Yes... it's kind of flimsey. Yes... you can get a more precise adjustment with a FWA but the clutch that you need for your setup shouldn't have a leg breaking pressure plate on it anyway so the OEM quadrant should be fine.
