FMS A/C Delete = Power steering leak now

Ok, so I installed the FMS A/C delete. In order to get the swivel-fitting hose on the pump to turn 180deg to clear the pump housing in it's new position, I had to take it off. I posted about this a few days ago and a few guys said they didn't have to remove it or you could bend it or whatever. Mine was not even close to clearing the pump housing. I had to remove it to get the hose to face the other direction.

Anyway....get everything put back together, wipe off power steering fluid off of the pump and 30 seconds later it's wet again around where the swivel-fitting hose meets the pump.

So I went to the dealership and picked up an PS Pump o-ring kit which came with about 10 different o-rings. The only 2 I could see to replace are on the swivel-fitting, so I replaced those. Put everything back together....

Same thing, a slow leak around where the swivel-fitting meets the pump.

Any ideas? This just pisses me off, the only reason I took the damn thing off was just so I could turn it and now the thing is leaking.

I guess I am going to try a thicker o-ring from the hardware store. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be getting a good seal. The old outer o-ring was flattend along one side pretty good in sort of an oval shape but it had never leaked before.

I have a Chiltons manual, but it doesnt mention anything about how tight that fitting should be. Hell it doesnt even mention the fitting at all. I tried just snugging it up, still leaked, I tried really tightening it down, still leaked.

is it leaking through the threads? you may want to try some thread sealer. I'm trying to picture what you are talking about. you might have to get some designed for oil, they make it.

OK

Ok, there are 2 o-rings on the fitting. One smaller one down inside and one larger one that seems to be for sealing the outside. The larger one was pretty dented/flattend and so I figured that's where the leak is coming from. I replaced both of them with new ones from the Ford dealership though and still a slow leak around where the fitting meets the pump.

I just got an oversized one from the hardware store. I will try that one next.

There is a spring loaded plate that goes down into the pump when you press the fitting into it.

I can't believe I'm the only person to have this problem...???

Fixed

Not sure if anyone cares, but just for the sake of having a fix posted if someone searches.....the slightly oversized o-ring from the hardware store did the trick, no more leaks. I filled the res back up and everything looks good.

awsome. from the pics of the o-rings the one you got from the dealer looks small and def. looks small. what's up with that, you would think it would be a direct fit? and slightly bigger than the worn stocker. oh well glad you are up and running .
