Hello,

I am very close to having my car on the road, but the last problem is that the transmission will "pop" out of alignment. By that, I mean the car will run great, then when it is put into the park, the lever inside the transmission, not the linkage, moves out of the proper place. From then the gears are not aligned with the shifter. The transmission pan has to be removed and then the plunger needs to be put back in place. It appears that it only does this when the diaphram has been turned, the piece that is on the driver's side where the tail shaft housing also connects, could that be causing this if there is too much line pressure? What are some other thoughts that would be causing this? Thanks.

Not sure how to help on this, but these transmissions were prone to jump into reverse occasionally from park. Is this what it's doing?

No, not in this case. The behavior is as if the shifter handle to the linkage slides out of place, but the linkage connetion does not move. Therefore, when the shifter handle is in park, the tranny is actually in reverse or neutral as an example. The linkage was checked, but has not moved. Therefore, we had to remove the pan and reset the "plunger" or something like that (sorry, forget the exact name). I hope that provides a clearer picture, I know this is tough to diagnose from my description.
