Yep, I think 95% of the users on here who have made their fogs run independently of their headlights did it this way, easy as pie.

The reason (I believe) for the fogs being wired as they are was to meet Federal and many state laws regarding the use of fogs without headlights (it's illegal in many locales).

Urban, I always complained about my fogs sucking bad. I recently got some take-offs that were in pretty nice shape and once I got my old lights off I saw the issue. The housings each had a crack along the top and half the desert was inside each housing.

If I had the cash, some of those nice clear lookin fogs for 70-100 bucks would look real sharp.

maybe i'm missing something here, but i don't quite understand how you get to the wiring in order to do the splicing. the little compartment next to where the e-brake rests does not come out in my car. the little metal cup thing does, but that doesnt really allow u any more room to get in there. what gives?

Remove the bezel around the shifter and you will see 2 of the screws. Also, you have to take out the insert for the inner console to access some screws down there. You will have to pry the little rubber pieces out (where your console lid rests when it closes) in order to get the screws out for the insert.

its easier to remove the center glove box 2 screws and pull the liner out and you have access to the wires.
