Foggy glass question

the crack can be fixed and they can buff the glass with a rouge,but make sure itsa fgood company, some place just did my buddies C6 and you can stil see the crack.

i have glass questions also
when some previous owner was sanding the car for paint, it appears that he got a LITTLE careless and let the rotary sander hit EVERY ONE of the side windows leaving swirl marks................they are kinda deep, looks like 80 grit was used
is it worth the effort to try and buff these out?? or am i destined for new windows?
also, he didn't bother scratching the windoshield since that already has a huge scrape where the windshield wiper arm had been rubbing......
i'm was going to replace the front windshield, not so much for that scrape, but because at night when lights hit it, it is like viewing the road thru a kaleidoscope, caused by what look like teeny tiny cracks in the glass
anyone have any experience with what i am describing with the windshield???and is there any thing that can be done besides replacing it?

My windshield was like that. It didn't have any cracks or scratches so I was reluctant to change it, but it was downright dangerous. It was likely the original glass and 40 years of age got to it.
The windshield is the cheapest peice of glass to replace, just do it.

I have a similar problem with my side windows where some idiot hit them(both!) with a sander. They're too deep to polish out. My factory windshield also has a chip, a wiper arm line, and some sandblasting. I'll see if I cant polish most of it out.
Its possible that the polymer layer between the two layers of glass is starting to break down from a couple decades of UV exposure. If that is the case, its not repairable.

One of Eastwoods kits actually REMOVES glass to take out scratches while the other just polishes the glass to remove haze and things that cannot be caught with your finger nail.
Johns Mustang has the cheapest price on windshields. The side glass has just become available through Mustang vendors but I can't remember where I saw it.

Polishing is of limited use...
As a general rule of thumb, if the scratch is deep enough to catch a fingernail you will not be able to polish it out without causing some distortion. There is also a good chance that the heat generated by polishing this aggressive will crack the glass.
If it's just a haze from lots of very small scratches THEN polishing will make a big difference.
