under center armrest there are two connectors.1 grey for the foglight switch, the other brown for the convertable top.on the brn one,cut the purple/orange wire off and strip the loose end to expose the wire.now on the grey one cut the red/black wire, make sure you leave enough coming out of the connector.now either tape or solder togeather the purple/orange to the red/black wire that is atattched to the grey connector.tape up the end of the loose red/black wire so it does not come into contact with anything.now your fogs will operate independantly of the head/parking lights.the fogs will only operate when the key is in the forward position, turn the fogs on or off at the foglight switch.they will not turn on with the key in the back position.

The brown wire in the headlight switch is the parking light feed. If you powered the fog light switch with this circuit, anytime the parking lights are on, the fogs will be on.

I think he's talking about the foglight switch not the knob...I'm confused.

Anyways to make the SWITCH work independently of the knob yeah you just bug into the convertible power wire. If you don't have a vert top you just swap wires, if you do have a vert top you bug into the power wire so your top still works.

There's a big writeup on both ways to do this on mustangworld. Go look in the tech artices section(not the forums the articles).

davis3's way is the best way, as you can control the fogs completely independently and even if you leave the switch on, they'll go off with the car.

the vert top wires are also plenty capable of holding the current...
