I found this post on another site when I was trying to search out where rockauto gets there parts. I recently ordered moog problem solvers bj's. Hope I get true moog bj's. A guy ordered moog parts and got some that said moog and some that weren't stamed moog at all and came in little white box that had a moog sticker. SO here's the post"
"I spoke to Moog this morning about my parts and the answer is they are not Moog made parts, but they are Moog parts. Seriously, that was the answer.
These control arm assemblies have a part number "RK" and according to Technical Support, that was the "problem." These are supposedly made by other manufactures, designed to be mid grade quality and are made to some sort of Moog standard for mid grade, non Moog manufactured parts, whatever that may be. This is the reason there is no identifying marks on the part -- because which ever plant in China is making them for Moog is also making them for other companies as well. So my Moog parts are probably the same as the Duralast. As to one having a grease fitting and one not, that's normal too, according to Technical Support, because it could be different manufactures making them. I have no idea how they intend to honor a warranty claim.
This is quite disappointing, but it is in line with what a number of people have said and what I've seen on other discussion boards about the down slide of Moog quality. How the consumer is supposed to know that "RK" means China (or at least, non-Moog manufacture) is beyond me. It seems to me Moog is trading off of old-time good will and pulling a fast one.
Just FYI, according to Technical Support, if you want a real Moog product, made by Moog, you have to buy a part with the prefix "K." Of course, I should have known that K means genuine and RK means lower quality imported parts of undetermined manufacture. Duh.
