...or plan on doing it. I know about the bezel that www.cp-e.com sells... but I remember someone talking about something similar only it angled the gauges up. Is there something like that out there? I'm kind of tall and it may be tough to see those gauges down there...

Anyones take?

Thats pretty nice....I like that option alot compared to the vent cage. I'd also be interested in other options like this.

I agree that it's tough to see gauges down there. I run mine on the a-pillar instead and use the are below the radio for switched for my e-fan and other stuff.

Agreed L5, I've got guages on my pilar...but theres only 2, and I don't feel like buying a 3-guage full pillar and modifying it again for the T-Top roof. So putting extra guages down there is a nice idea...just can't really see them.

I run my tach under my glove box....weirdest place i've ever seen, but i ran the shift light to the top of my steering column. I figure what's the point of staring at the tach when you have a shift light anyways? Plus i can't stand having a big tach sitting right in front of my face blocking any part of my view. In the future i'm gonna have to do a custom gauge cluster.

You mean something kinda like this?


I used some autometer angle bezels installed in the guage cluster. You have to do a little filing to the holes so that the gauges will sit at the proper angle but it only took about 30 minutes to pull the cluster out, unhook and remove the temp gauge capillary tube, modify the bezel and put it all back together.

The great thing is you can adjust the angle just by turning the angled bezel.

I like the fact that the plate is metal, but using the angle rings would be difficult.

There is a company that makes a plate that relocates the AC controls below the radio and put the gauges where the controls used to be.

WHy not just run an A-pillar or a/c vent gauge setup? I just think looking way down there when you are at speed is gonna be tough. I plan on AutoXing and maybe doing some road racing with my car, so i want to be able to see the gauges easily. I know pillar gauges are considered "RICEY" by some, but they work and are easy to read!

I am going to be upgrading to a 3-pillar trim soon as i need a spot for my Boost gauge

I don't find any problems with the gauges below the radio. It took a little getting used to. All of the gauges that I run are mechanicals and trying to feed 2 3AN lines up the pillar and the capillary tube was more trouble than I wanted.

If they were all electrics then I probably would have done an A pillar set up. In my 93 I had the same gauge set up I posted with an oil and trans temp on the a pillar.

The angled bezel just mounts to the back of the gauges doesn't it?

I loved having my gauges below the radio. They were easy to see when I would take a glance, but they are also not in your face 100% of the time while you drive.

how do those ac relocation things work? ive bene looking at them for a while and i really like the one with the 3 gauges on top then radio in middle, then ac below that. the ac controls and radio are different depths into the dash, and i was wondering how that worked out making them all one level. anyone have one of them?

Basically instead of the gauge sliding directly into the gauge/radio plate it sildes through the angled bezel then through the gauge/radio plate and then you screw the hold down clips on.

You do have to modify the gauge/radio plate. You have to do some filing on the holes so that the gauge will sit at an angle. My plate is made of ABS plastic and is about a quarter of an inch thick. Since it is that thick the gauges won't sit at the proper angle without taking a file to the plate. I believe that you have to file the inside of the hole to a 15* angle. Its kinda hard to describe it over the internet. I believe that autometer has online instructions on their website for the bezels.

Build your own out of fiberglass. I could do it, its pretty easy. I built some speaker pods for my doors with it and they came out very nice. I think something like you need would be even easier.

Those look nice, do you make custom fiberglass items for others, or just something you do for yourself? Like to have a fiberglass sub enclosure that fits in the spare wheelwell for a single 12" sub.
