For those of you with Exhaust Leaks...

I've had an exhaust leak for over a month now...and I tried everything. Finally, I broke down and decided I would use a sealant. Permatex makes a high temp. sealant that came recomended to me. It's red, not black like the ones a lot of people use for intake sealant and shifter sealant. This was the fourth time I've unbolted and rebolted my midpipe up to the headers. So far it seems like the stuff actually works. I applied a good coat all over the ball/flange joint and bolted everything back up. I still notice a very slight leak when the engine is revving high, but it's miles apart from where I was weeks ago. I just wanted to throw that out there for all of you guys who have been fighting this exhaust leak problem.

Actually, I took it to a muffler shop near my house...they said the leak was coming from the driver side midpipe/header connection. They wouldn't work on the pipes, so i took it home and tried tightening the bolts w/ no luck. I took the midpipe off a couple of times and put it back on, tightening different areas with different torque, w/ no luck. The header's have a 'ball' joint that meats up to the open ended Midpipe. I think the crappy metal work done by BBK left a really rough 'ball' at the end of the header. By using a sealant on it, it really cleaned up a lot of the leak.
