I don't know if its just me or what but it seems like the more time i spend washing, waxing, cleaning my car the more i get paranoid about it. When my mustang was still a daily driver i remember having a lot more fun with it and not worrying about it as much. Now that its more or less a garage queen and i've put so much money into it its like im almost too paranoid about breaking something, it getting broken into, wrecked, or getting it dirty to really enjoy it like i used to...am i the only one?

I'm just like that. I'm always afraid that someone will break into her or key her. The only place I have drive my car this year is to work (gated parking lot) and back to my house. Other then that I will not take her to a bar, mall, movies or even to the beach any more.

I used to be like that but now my position is that I will just repair whatever damage comes my way.

You should see all the rock chips in the hood! I don't even care... Someday I will have it resprayed and drive on.

IMO, whats the point if you cant drive the damn thing? By all means, dont abuse it and purposely put your car in harms way. I keep mine clean, wash it wax and maintain it like crazy and enjoy every minute behind the wheel. I've taken it on 400 mile roadtrips, to the beach, work, cruises, etc. 137,xxx miles and even though I drive it every day and its 9 years old, it sure doesnt drive or look like it.

On another note, how depressing would it be if your car sat in a garage most of the time, and the one time you take it out it gets totalled because of some idiot...what then? You'd wish you drove it more.

Thats just how I see it , but even though my stang sits in the garage most of the week , I still drive it almost anywhere when it does see daylight , I do park my mustang as far away from other car when I do go places , but at the same time I try not to get to paranoid of say dirtbags harming my baby or roaming shopping carts !

Dive your Mustang , because one day you will be very Old and nobody will let you drive anything , just maybe a Jazzy power chair :D

I am that way with my car right now. Its only got 25k miles on it and looks brand new. I hate to drive it to work because its highway and I dont want chips etc on the front. Dont like driving it at night or evening because of bugs, etc etc etc. Haha....but I am loosening up with it now some. Today is the first I drove it in the last 2 weeks, and probably only second time I drove it the month of July:lol: Now my old 00 gt, I drove that everyday and love dit. rain or shine, I was driving it.

I guess if this car wasnt so mint to begin with, I wouldnt mind driving it everyday, but thae fact that its never been in rain, well, it will just stay that way!

But there are may times I wish the car wasnt so nice so I would have a sweet DD, but oh well. We win some and loose some!

People always give me crap about not driving mine, 2800 mile in last 3 yrs. I look at the weather, any hint of rain and it don't come out of the garage. Nighttime the same, bugs. I dropped collision and got lower rate insurance because of the mileage.

If I do take it out, I park it in the middle of nowhere. When I get back to it, I walk around it and check it. Have cleaning supplies in trunk, just in case.

But it sure looks bad ass when I pull up and open the garage doors and it's sitting there. I think to myself, I finaly made it to be where I can have a garage toy and my friends and nieghborhood kids are jeleous. :nice:

I am in a long distance relationship, so I do a lot of 100+ mile trips each weekend. Up until now, I was doing that in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is a comfortable ride but it sure is boring! I bought my Mustang because I wanted to make the most out of the many miles I drive, so it goes where I go, rain or shine. It's also a perk that I get ~28-30mpg straight highway so I really save on gas.

There are a lot of idiotic drivers here in upstate NY, and if I worried about my Mustang as much as I did with my previous one, I'd have had a heart attack by now. I just make sure I am parked evenly in the lines and don't do anything that would piss off the neighbors, and I'll let my insurance company do its thing when my efforts are not enough.

This is just my personal stance on the matter anyway. Yes I would be mad if someone messed up my car, but I won't let the thought of that happening govern when and where I can drive it.

yup, i used to leave it in the school parking lot, work, movies, anywhere, now that i have a DD, i dont park the car anywere where i cant see it, i dont realy take it any where, just cruise in it for fun:shrug:

that little unfortunate event in the school parking lot turned out to give you a good reason to upgrade your bumper though, cant complain about that. i wouldnt have felt safe with all those @$$holes in the parking lot doing burnouts . immature teenagers

I'm in kinda the opposite situation. I've always loved it. I still do. But since I got my new car I dont drive the Stang enough and I've been really lazy about modding it. I'm not driving it because I havent been into it as much.
I have a new vert top sitting here waiting to be installed and I STILL Havent started. I still havent dropped off the Roush kit for paint either.

I need to start showing my car some luuuurrrrve. :nice:I do love it. Probably just fascinated with the new toy I guess.:(

I can relate as well I get teased by my girlfriend and co-workers.''why'd you buy it and not drive it" at least 2wice a week.I love my 97 cobra even though im the 3rd owner id only put maybe 1,500 mi. on her in 3 years.I actually do more in the winter months to her (interior-cosmetics) than the rest of the year. Now im moving in with the girlfriend and she has no garage so i have to take her out of the garage and park her in storage or outside . WTF IM GONNA go through withdrawls for sure.At least now I can save for a vortech.:p

Yes,i have become guilty of this issue. When i first bought my GT in '03,brand spakin new,i drove her as a summer daily, same with in '04,heck i would go for rips just for the hell of it,but after i was able to afford two cars for insurance, she sees less road duty, and more shining duty.I've become very anal, and the fun part of it is getting lost.I love my car,but i have an issue of her getting dirty.......

wow you're alive!

yeah, I'm kinda picky when it comes to car cleanliness. But I try not to not worry too much while driving. Mine's got a couple chips on the hood and bumper but it comes with the territory, and I'll get them fixed if it gets too noticeable.

Kilgore! haha nice to hear from ya buddy...you seem to make an apearance like once every year

im the same way... drove her everyday rain or shine... i think i washed it more than i drove it...now that i have a second car it just kinda sits in the driveway for me to stare at..im kinda leary about driving it even to work nowadays since right before the build somebody i work with drove down the complete drivers side of my car... they musta had great driving skills since the space between my car and the next object was about 50ft...probably a damn woman

i have started to drive her a bit more though lately.. somtimes i just cant handle not being seen in it or not having everyone know i own it...im weird like that

My 'Stang is my second car, but after I bought it, it was immediately the DD.

Now with 139,000 on it I am starting to drive it less and less. All those miles have been fun, but I want to "preserve" what life it has left. So far I have been EXTREMELY fortunate and not broken anything on the car, and I have NOT been easy on it by any means.

When I bought it, it wasn't flawless by any means. I do worry about someone messing it up (already happened), but that doesn't stop me from driving it. That is what I bought it for, the exhilaration of sitting behind the wheel and driving the car I have always wanted.
