Does anyone have any experience with the ford racing crate engines? What ever happened to the boss crate motors? Did they ever get released? I was thinking a new crate motor might be more cost effective than trying to build one. What do you guys think?

The 347 crate use to be 6 grand and is good for low 11 second times. But now it is well over 8 grand. Shop around there cheaper else where.

my brother has the z-headed 347 450hp, 11.53 @119 on motor 10.68 @ 129 w/150 shot. Paid $6100 couple years ago, I believe the price has gone up to almost $9000 because that engine is going to get the boss block in the future. But i can tell you that is a quality engine and runs awesome.

Well does anyone know of a reputable company that makes a solid 302/306 shortblock that will handle a fair amount of power? I'm thinking afr 185s, performer rpm 2, custom cam, and down the road, a nice turbo kit.

Depends on your budget, but I think you can get a longblock for much less than those prices. Shop around at places like CHP, DSS, etc. Try shooting Rick 91GT a PM, since he's built many engines for people on here. His website is http://www.rnhperformance.com

GT40 Crate

I'm very happy with my GT40 crate. I'd say that the main benefit is that you'll get a pretty well balanced engine that will serve well as a daily driver. If you want more excitement you always shot some nitrous.
