The thing for us enthusiast to think about here is it's basically where Ford was looking forward enough to make changes, that would allow to remain as players in the market. Much like they did in the early 70's with the Mustang II. They kept some styling cues that were important and reorganized the powerplants available and threw some new suspension technology in at the same time. This is definitely a good business plan on Ford's side with plenty of foresight.
