FRPP announced some new handling kits, power, drag packs.

A long time ago I had Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston put 3.55 gears in my 91 notch.
The service manager asked me "do you want the motorsport gears or ford gears?" I asked what the difference was and he said that the motorsport gears are warrantied to the end of that driveway and the Ford parts for 12/12k.

So, I guess he meant anything out of the SVO/Motorsport whatever it's called now catalog has no warranty.

You know the parts are supposed to be for "racing".

I'm really looking forward to someone posting their results of a Power Pack install, especially if they dyno.

I'm interested in the kit, but man, that would hurt if you had a Ford dealership do the install and it still voided your factory warranty...

No matter who the dealer is I am not a fan of the canned tunes. Each of these cars are different even if they have the exact same mods. I still say if you are going to tune shop around for a good custom tuner and get that done. I ended up paying $500 for an XCal2 and custom dyno tune package deal and IMO it's worth every it and from what I have seen it is not much more expensive than buying an XCal2 and a canned tune.

The only reason I'd be more interested in the Ford pack is IF it didn't void your warranty. Otherwise, I'd definitely go with a custom tune.

There's a customer support line at the Ford Racing web site. When I get a chance, I'm going to call and see what they have to say about warranty coverage. My guess is that even with their parts and a dealer install, warranty is technically void.

Called Ford Racing. They confirmed that the new 2005 Power/Drag kits **CAN** void your engine/powertrain warranty, and that Ford does not differentiate between these kits and any aftermarket parts/tune.

The customer support rep agreed that bottom line, it's the dealership's call when you go in for service. If you had the dealership do the install, and then had problems, they might be easier to work with. No guarantees.

Based on that, might as well go with whatever parts you like and just get that custom tune from a reputable shop.

this is true, but they all came with a canned tune from the factory. we all had the same tune to begin with. but to get every last pony, you really do need that custom tune on a dyno!
