I was talking with an authorized Ford Racing distributor yesterday and he said that there was a price increase effective Oct. 1st. The 345hp 302 crate motor that was $3500.00 is now $4100.00. Anyone else hear of this? Unfortunatley I am going to purchase this engine shortly, well now sooner!! Summit still has them for just under 3500.00. I checked Jegs, they were selling the xe3m-cam one for just under 3500.00 still, but the xb3m- cam was going for 4900.00 !!!! They both use to be the same price.
Thats over a $1000.00 increase!! I think I'm ordering mine tomorrow.

For that price you could order a DSS unit that would beat the snot out of that crate motor. Better yet a good builder should be able to put a nice package together for you for less than you mentioned.

What he said. A hell of a lot more power for the same price.

Ford Racing is getting ready to start a "flat retail" policy shortly. Which, in effect, means NO Ford Racing dealer can sell Ford Racing products for below the Ford Racing retail price.

I don't know when (or if) this policy is going to take effect. But Ford Racing has been talking about it for a while now.

I wouldn't doubt it. I remember when you could get an aluminum DS for $150, then the price jumped 100 bucks.

My Father-in-law works at the Ford parts distribution center here, he cannot get me any FRPP parts on the cheap. No margin for mark-down. Standard ford parts...I love buying from him. He tells me to go through Summit or Jegs for FRPP...

Yeah, that's just stupid. I like buying FRPP stuff to be loyal to Ford, but seems like they're pulling lots of funky **** now. Oh well, luckily there's a huge 5.0 aftermarket.

Are they stunned? This is getting ridiculous. It already upsets me that all my friends that drive their chevy trucks can **** up their motors and for like $2500 can get a brand new out of the box, everything included crate motor... I know its just a stock motor but still, as far as I know this is not possible for ford guys... *sigh*

All Ford fleet vehicles should be mandated by law to have bumper stickers that say "Smile as we go under!".

I am now thoroughly convinced that nobody involved in the decision making process at Ford has a freakin clue about how to stay in business. Either that or they are intentionally positioning themselves for a hostile take-over. If that's the case then all of those responsible for these decision can go to jail and become boy-toys.

Well seriously, I can't even think of an example of another company RAISING the price on a big ticket item like that.. Not like its amazing either. You'd think they would at least make it better.

The only thing Ford offers that I can find crate wise thats affordable is a guzzlin 351, painted ugly primer grey, with old ass components on it, and only 250HP if you're lucky. For way cheaper than that you can buy a crate 350 with 260HP.

For friggen 2500 bucks you can get a nice looking 350 with Vortech heads and 330HP.

For UNDER Ford's new price for the 302 crate you can get a ZZ4 350 Crate Motor with 385HP!
