Anyone have a Ford Racing high torque mini starter? If so can you give me some tips on how to wire it, the directions are confusing. Also fried the solenoid..thinking i knew how to wire it. Anyone know where i can get a new one?

The small wire is the lead and you do not want it to touch battery power. There are two main posts on the starter relay, switch the big power wire on the relay going to your factory starter and put it on the battery side of the relay or just wire it right to the battery. Then take that lead and put it on the terminal the old cable came off of (the one with all the other stuff connected to it).
hey dude, I did the same thing about a month ago...sucks I know. You can get a new solonoid at autozone for l ike $37. Hell, I fried the new one I bought too cause I'm a moron and left the battery connected when I was installing the starter and grounded it on the frame. The moral of the story is: Be sure to disconnect the battery before you install the starter! I got mine from ebay and the instructions were confusing! I think 87'GT has it right though
The harness that came with the starter has two wires in it. Do they go to the same place on the sarter and the relay terminal? or do they go to different places?
I don't know why you'd have two wires...mine only had one. I got mine from eBay. You should have one wire that goes from the solonoid on the starter to the solonoid on your fenderwell....I don't know what other wires you'd need
Your new starter should have 2 wires to it -- the large power cable attached to the stud, and a 12 ga. wire attached to the spade connector.
The power cable goes to the 12v side (the side with all the other wires going to it) of the starter relay (or it can go directly to the battery), and the 12 ga. wire goes to the stud on the "cranking" side of the starter relay (it should be the only wire connected to this stud).
replaced solenoid.....still not workin....could the wires have gone bad? pretty sure i wired it right. The whole starter couldnt have gone bad by wiring it wrong the first time, could it? It melted the old solenoid. Thanks
