Ford Sportsman Block?

Well my plan was to buy a dart block to build a big inch windsor combo, but I just ran across a good deal on a a ford sportsman block, what can you all tell me about them? How realible are they and to what horsepower? and how big of a cubic inch engine can they make? I planned on making a 427 with the dart block, but if needed can go for a 408 or so. Thanks

all I know is that the dart is stronger than the sportsman. I'd spend the extra cash for the Dart.

The sportsman will handle quite a bit of power (up around 700hp), you are just limited on the bore size (max .040")...as compared the the .185" over that the Dart offers.

Ford Sportsman block is a glorified stock block. It has a "hair" more meat then than a stocker and is no comparison for anything that Dart makes. The new Boss block is a different story.

The Sportsman = the same 450 - 500 RW HP reliability rule that the stockers do.

He's referring to the 351 sportsman block which will handle some power. However the 302 sportsman block is good, I've made 650rwhp for 3 years and now it takes 7500rpms no problems at 450rwhp.

word
i know a guy that ran a turbo motor spinning to 7k for 3 years with no problem and he is at 780 rear wheel
