Ford t-5 the same as chevy t-5?

i would want to be more specific - both makes have had T5's which use gear oil and others that used ATF.

good luck.

Since my mustang is no more I have a friend with a thirdgen t/a with a t-5 and he wants my tri-ax so I was just wondering.I did notice when I installed it that there was auto tranny fluid in the tranny so...

No, different gear ratios, not all are world class, many use gear oil.

Also, biggest difference is shifter is in different location. It's moved further ahead. This means the trans has a different tailhousing and shift rail setup.

There are many different versions of the T-5 out there. There is even a 4WD T-5 with a transfer case bolted where the tailhousing should be. Those came in 80's blazers.
