only 5800 miles on it. If you look at the "TSB" thread below, you will see that several of us are experiencing a loud noise from the passenger side engine head. This is NOT the semi-loud noise the TSB in question refers to. This is a noise that lets you know something inside of that head broke. It sounds like you have a broken valve spring or valve stem. And I guess you do because Ford's fix for this is to rebuild the engine, including new pistons, valves, valve springs, resurfacing the heads, etc, etc, etc. But FORD will NOT authorize an new engine for your new car......

In my case my 05 Mustang GT I purchased in January has spent a over 3 full months, more then 90 days in the shop for various repairs since I purchased it. This "repair" went into BEVERLY HILLS FORD on 10-28 and they say I will not have the car back with the rebuilt engine in it until 11-28 or 11-29.... The complete FORD FACTORY REPAIR PARTS KIT is due to arrive at the "dealership" today. Yea right !!! They said the same thing last week but the "KITS" weren't ready then.

The oil was not the cause as I had changed the oil and the oil filter when the car reached 1200 miles, 2600 miles and again on 10-1-05 when the car hit 5000 miles. Each time I paid extra for the required 5/20w, 50/50 blend FORD reccommends.

This is just not fair. I paid for a new car with a new engine. NOT for a rebuilt engine thrown together by some indifferent dealership parts changer. Called Ford Motor Company today to complain and ask for at least a new engine. Their response, "sorry for the trouble but all we will authorize is a rebuild with the factory rebuild kit". They know they have a problem and think they can cheat us. Could be time for a class action suit. Who else has had this problem???

So let me get this right, there is only a problem with one bank of the engine, nothing you mentioned would damage the block, and they are replaceing the head and pistons. So what is the problem? Granted it sucks to have this happen on a new car, and might be quicker to have a new engine dropped in, but your CAS argument is unjust.

dont sweat it, a rebuilt motor should be as good as a new one. look on the bright side, with the milled heads, you have a little more compression now.....

Update: The Service Advisor called to say he mis-spoke about what was included in the factory kit. There are no new pistons included but there are the new valves, springs, lifters, and yes the heads still have to be resurfaced. What he really ment to say instead of pistons was that a new cam shaft is in the kit. So a complete top end rebuild. However they will be looking at the pistons to see if there is any damage there... how nice!!!!!!!

You have a Lemon. I've been through this with GM. You won't be happy with this car; the start of a slippery slope.

Sorry this is happening to you.

do yourself a favor and start researching lemon laws in your area, i went through a similar deal with a 96 z71 that had problem after problem, new engine, 4 trannys, ac went out, wipers, rear end, intake manifold, i had no recourse because i bought the car used. if i remember right there was something about a dealership having your car over thirty days, keep notes as well if you decide you wan tot have your car declared a lemon.

Don't Dump the car that is what Fords wants so that the customer takes the hit for a design mistake from them. Lemon Laws have changed again in most states that make it easier for you to go against the manufacture. Your Bank that carries the loan is another way to go. You stop paying because of a problem with the vehicle that they own the banks tries to go to bat for you or they are stuck with the crap you left them to turn.

So much hate in this thread!

Ford doesn't want you to be in this position in the first place. They want their customers to return, and crappy products and customer service won't achieve that goal.

But understand that they probably have one genuine call for every fifty fraudulent calls, requesting brand new parts/service. First thing to do is keep your head throughout the situation; no one will listen to you if you're screaming.

Unless you're buddy-buddy with your loan officer, simply stopping payment with the bank will get you in a LOT more trouble.

This isn't what you're supposed to have to go through when you buy a new car. But you're going through it, so you'd better make the best of it soon.

This is the first year of a new model; these things happen. Sorry if I sound like an ass, not my intention.

Just start making calls to anyone that has a relationship with the car and see if someone will help you to the next step. Your not alone if you go to other sites this has been a problem for the last 9 months after others have put miles on the car. Many are saying they have a new Cam on one or the other bank of cylinders to correct and some have a new head. This is not Mustang only many Truck sites discuss this on the 5.4 with the 3 valve head also.

Only 5800 miles and 3 full months in the shop. You have a lemon. Distance yourself from this car asap.
But, it is your car and this is the Internet, so you won't get the answer you're looking for.

You will hear ***** like "new models have problems", "It takes time to get the parts" and my personal favorite "they all do it, it's normal" ..blah blah blah.

Trust your own judgment.....

Sorry, but in reading through the tread, one major point is unclear to me.

Is Ford giving you some old rebuilt engine, or is Ford rebuilding (repairing) your engine? At least to me, that is a big difference.

First off, many thanks to all that responded. DO appreciate all of the comments.

The dealer has received the new top end rebuilt kit including the new valves, springs, lifters, and cam. The head or heads, will be sent out for resurfacing. Still don't know if they are only doing the passenger side or both sides. I got the impression they were only authorized to rebulid the passenger side. But that's not really revelant any more.

The dealership owner called yesterday after reviewing the cars history and strongly suggested I file under the California Lemon Law to have Ford buy back this car. While I apprecaite the return call, that is still short of optimal especially after talking to two different local Lemon Law attorney's here in LA and getting a better understanding of the Lemon Law and the hoops one must jump through and the time frames involved.

Again, thanks for the replies. I wish you all the best and may you and your cars stay healthy.

Follow up: Only one side, the passenger side head was authorized by Ford to be repaired so only one side had the head resurfaced and rebuilt, not both sides........

Car is supposed to be ready today or Friday. I am still going to Lemon Law the car..... no more Fords for me.

I think that their reluctance to just outright replace the engine is because major components of our cars these days are serialized to the VIN as an anti-theft device. As in - the VIN is stamped in the block, No two blocks can have the same VIN.
Let us know how it goes..

if that was the case, why can we get new fenders and doors without a problem. they put a replacment tag on the parts to show they were replaced with factory parts, not stolen parts.

Man, for someone (like me) who is in here researching the purchase of a new Mustang, this is a scary thread. Is this a unique (or rare) problem, or a known issue with the new Mustangs?

One of my concerns about buying a Ford is that, except for my '87 Mustang, I've owned nothing but Japanese cars since the 80s - and, believe it or not, can't remember ever having one problem!

Thoughts?
