Ford won't ok a new engine in a 05 GT with

Ford can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. My 2003 Mach has a small crack on the bottom of the hood that is slowly growing. Ive been trying to get ford to warranty it for 3 months but they wont. Im about ready to sue. As far as head problems, the machs and 03/04 cobras also had issues mostly a tick. You think ford would have learned thier lesson.

if that was the case, why can we get new fenders and doors without a problem. they put a replacment tag on the parts to show they were replaced with factory parts, not stolen parts.

Federal law does not require that the VIN be stamped indelibly in the removable body components. It does require it to be on the major driveline assemblies such as Engine Block - Transmission Housing - Differential housing.

Another factor you may not have thought about. Originality.
The engine in my 1969 Camaro SS was rebuilt by the dealer in 1970 when it spun a rod bearing. My car still has the original block in it. It's called a "numbers matching" car and it is worth half again more than a 69 Camaro SS with a replacement engine in it even of the correct vintage.
Boy am I glad they rebuilt that engine instead of taking the easy way out..
Certainly these cars have little "collector" value right now - but they will.

do you have documention of this? they have to have the VIN on all the body panels as well. but when you replace the part, they cant put the VIN back on the part, or remove/coverup the RDOT sticker. this IS against federal law, i work an cars all day long and there is a hefty punishment if you are found to tamper with these tags.

Don't Dump the car that is what Fords wants so that the customer takes the hit for a design mistake from them. Lemon Laws have changed again in most states that make it easier for you to go against the manufacture. Your Bank that carries the loan is another way to go. You stop paying because of a problem with the vehicle that they own the banks tries to go to bat for you or they are stuck with the crap you left them to turn.
yea if you stop making the payments on the car and stick to that then the bank will repo the car and sell it at auction and you will have a repo on your credit and then you will be do for what the car does not sell for.

You cannot legally re-stamp the VIN on any component anymore. While I no longer work as a tech in the dealerships, I've plenty of connections that are still there and this is what they are told.

Back to the issue at hand - we're talking about the man's engine block. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a properly rebuilt engine. The engine block will still match the car (VIN).
Now the customer, on the other hand, can remove any sticker they want and stamp any number they want... Just like matress tags! :)

true, you cant reproduce a VIN in any way shape or form. customers can "customize" their car and not have MUCH of a problem. if someone wanted to be red, they could easily penalize you for tampering with the VIN tags. as far as the original engine situation, i agree.....in the FUTURE the car would likely be worth more to someone if it had the original and not a replacement if the car was left STOCK. modified cars are in the air as far as resale value. youll never get out of it what you paid for it, most people would prefer to buy a car that is "unmolested". but by the time this car is worth anything to anyone as far as a collector car, it will likely have traded hands a few times. most people nowadays dont care about originality, and finding an original survivor is hard. this guy obvioisly does not care about that. he thinks that FORD is the worst car ever. he has had problems with the car since new. he wants to lemon law it, so in this caes, it will not matter at all. i am pretty sure that a lemon law car is CRUSHED!!! just like concept cars and test mules.

I guess you've never heard about the sludge problems with Toyota's 3 liter V6. I'm not claiming that Ford is better on reliability but all manufacturers occassionally lay a turd. In Toyota's case they blamed the owners until they got some bad PR and a lot of lawsuits.

Man, for someone (like me) who is in here researching the purchase of a new Mustang, this is a scary thread. Is this a unique (or rare) problem, or a known issue with the new Mustangs?

One of my concerns about buying a Ford is that, except for my '87 Mustang, I've owned nothing but Japanese cars since the 80s - and, believe it or not, can't remember ever having one problem!

Thoughts?

This is a rare occurence. Ford has built over 1,000,000 3V 4.6 engines already.

That's a relief.

But the other side of having a problem is the way one is treated by the dealer and manufacturer. Way back when my '87 Mustang was closer to new, I was NOT impressed with the dealer's service dept.

How would you honesly rate them?

I honestly can't because the 2 things I went to the dealer for were the radio and the front end popping tsb's. That was over 4 months ago.
Both were repaired no problem.

I'm pretty hard on my car with over 550 1/4 mile runs since April. From the first week my car has been seeing up to 6500rpm without any problems.
