Found a hole in my air tube thingy.

My car lately after the header install has sounded like a bubbler right under the throttlebody.

And Today after re checking the bolts, I found one side missing on the smog tube. The one that goes from the smog tube for the h-pipe, and then has a u bend into some sensor. The header on the passenger side melted a hole. On top of that, my brand new msd wires somehow came to rest onto the header as well. I guess this explains my miss on the top end. Now the 2 wires have cracks where they were resting on the header.

My question revolves around that hole. What is going on when there is a whole in that tube. The car has been sluggish. I upped the fp and it runs better, but not what it normally feels like.

And one of the bolts backed out, can I just call summit to get a new one because I dont thing that a local hardware store will have a 3/8 bolt that is the same as the one that fell

EDIT: I think I meant smog tube. Not air tube.

When my MSD wires were touching the headers, I bought some of those plug wire boots from Summit. They are like $8 a piece and I had to cut out the copper ring to get them to slide on, but they worked like a charm.

I think the purpose of that tube is to circulate hot exhaust gases back to the cats to heat them up quicker which will reduce emissions. I don't think the hole would cause too much damage however it should be fixed as you don't want exhaust gases leaking out and getting inside the car-carbon monoxide. Maybe a short-term fix would be some muffler tape till you can find a new tube or get it fixed permanently.

I melted some nice new Accel Wires just over a week ago....pissed me off royally...the boots on those things are too long and straight out so i had no choice but to rest them on the headers

If I delete that smog tobe all together and cap it off will I have and sensors go off on me?

Nope. That tube is from the air pump and just pumps fresh air into the exhaust. I used to have mine laying around but threw it away last month during a clean up of the garage.
