Found a leak in my intake manifold.
I took the Stang to the Ford dealer and they are replacing it as we speak.
Good timing, the intake recall expires next month!
Glad we have this forum
Getting the car back tomorrow.

WHere? What were your symptoms? Just curious as I've been battling a ongoing pinging issue since the car was practically brand new. I still feel there is perhaps a small vacuum leak somewhere, but I'm not getting any CEL.

The leak looked like it was coming from the back side of the intake manifold.
I saw coolant near the spark plugs.
Ford did not tell me specifically where the crack was.
They just called me and said it was indeed cracked and it would be covered by the Intake Manifold Recall.

*Takes hammer and screwdriver to "assist" the manifold in "cracking" before the end of the recall*

Better make sure you'll be covered first.

are you sure its really pinging?? it may just be the infamous "clicking" sound that just turned out to be the injectors clicking on and off on many stangs .

Wait, I thought we had 7 years from the start date of our warranty to have the manifold replaced?

Did I miss something somewhere?

Good. That gives me a full two years to crack it.

ok nobody answered this in the stick so i'll repost it

Alright got a question. I have a 1998 Mustang GT, I replaced the intake with an aftermarket aluminum crossover intake. I did the work myself and have no reciepts. My car's warranty start date is March of 1998 which puts me out of the 7 year window. I went to Ford and they said I needed reciepts to prove it was replaced within the 7 years or they couldn't do anything about it. Is there a number I can call to get a hold of Ford Customer Service, or should I try another dealership???

Heh, in the same boat, but mines a pi intake and no reciepts. $735 would be nice right now but from what i read is that, yes, you kinda need recipts if your out of the window.

Now on people who are in, couldn't you buy one for ~$190 and swap it out yourself(very easy) and go and collect $735 and then sell the "broken" one?

Sticking it to the man... maybe my brother's 01 GT just broke....

Duplication of topics makes it harder for people to search for answers.
