Okay, situation i am facing is a good one i think, but i want to know if i will get my 2006 before 2007. After calling 40+ dealers today i found one dealer that will order me a 2006 with no money down at 1000 over invoice. This is good, however he only has one mustang on the lot and 15 new vehicles, is it likely that this dealer will never be able to get my mustang in if i order it from him. If this isn't enough information what questions do i need to ask him about his allocation etc..... to find more info. out. This all after my local dealership wanted 1000 down and 3000 over MSRP.

Dealer allocation does play into the ordering process. Also, I would keep looking until I found a dealer that would not charge over MSRP. You may have to drive a little farther, but would be worth the savings.

I appreciate the info on allocation. BTW it's not 1000 of MSRP it's 1000 over invoice so that is way under MSRP. Think i will order it this weekend since it is quite the little drive. Anymore information on ordering from a small dealership would be appreciated.

If you dont give him any money, he is not bound to sell you the car when it gets in. You are better off doing a deal that is fully documented, and where you give them a few hundred bucks to bind the deal.

Dont leave without a contractual agreement, or you could wait for months and when the car gets in he could sell it over sticker to the first guy that walks on the lot.

If i have a contract what does it matter if i have money in the deal. The fact that i put money down doesn't mean anything other than he has to give me the money back when he rips me off like you just described. The contract would be the thing that keeps him honest not $500 no?

A contract is not binding unless a "consideration" is exchanged. If you dont give him any money, there is no contractual obligatoin between you. You won't have any trouble getting your money back if you want it. There are all sorts of consumer laws now that protect you.

So how much does the "consideration" have to be. I mean does it have to be 500? a 1000? or can i just give the dude a crisp 100 lol?

BTW MECEP stands for Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program Dyoct.

I'm in Cincinnati. Fairfield Ford ordered mine, but they did want some money ($500) to "close the deal". I also dealt with Kerry Ford in Cincy. They wanted money down, too.

I know of a few people around here who were promised discounts, but once the car came in, all bets were off. Dealers didn't care either stating they wouldn't have any trouble selling a GT if the customer backed out of the deal.

Don't know what the market is like in Columbus. I went up there to work with one of the biggest dealers in the city (supposedly).....Ricart. I felt like I had to take a shower when I left there, though.

Hehe Ricart is the worst place in columbus for you to look for a mustang, come to germaine next time you come here they would have atleast given it to you for msrp with 500 down. I am going to go down and talk to this guy this week and hopefully put mimimal money down. If he backs out of our deal i will probably just firebomb his dealership. J/k and hopefully someone else doesn't firebomb it between now and when my mustang comes in. I would seriously lose my everloving mind if that happened.
