Unsure of cause, but appears to be related to either a head gasket letting go or a coolant hose letting go, and causing fluid under the tires and loss of control.

Thoughts?

What a shame.. I'm guessing the driver was distracted by that disgusting haircut and the wifebeater..

I'm sure the car is insured.. And, if it is a defect that caused the wreck, Ford should pay for everything..

I don't think the car is getting replaced by either Ford or (insert auto insurance provider here) because the accident looks like has taken place during a motorsports event. If that's the case he guy just may have to fork the bill and drive an Aveo for the next few years till that mess is settled.

I concur with Walter.

I do like the fact that the passenger compartment is totally intact...which means "safe." Solid car, good crumple zones.

My mom works at statefarm aswell, and says he will not get anything. It happened at the track.

Guys .... Relax and stop speculating. I hope you guys know that there is insurance for the track and motorsport events ... It's highly possible that this guy had it.

I'm just saying I've never heard of a company that offers insurance for you to take your overinflated price of $80K car to the track to drive it different than what it was meant for, and yes we know it's a sports car but drag racing even at the track is considered a reckless, non-insurable event. You might find a company that specializes in such a thing but not a regular insurance company and you're going to pay out the rear to boot.

Don't get me wrong, I love going to the track but it is an inherent risk of drag racing (or any other kind of racing for that matter) that I might lose my car and pay on it for the rest of its loan while I'm driving Kia to work.

BTW, what companies offer drag racing insurance?

I understand what you are saying but it's not really that bad, especially considering the value of the car in this thread ... I don't think any main stream insurance companies offer it. They are all small firms. Here is one. It's a crappy website but it's one of the best companies.
