This is the cable I just got from CJ Pony Parts. It is [not] a match for the OEM cable they advertise on their site, however, it appears to me to have a lot of the desired characteristics.

Overall:

Quadrant End Swedge
High Thread Count Cable
Yes, most of us will have to break the plastic mount off of the end

Just showing where this bracket starts and stops

Cable Shield Location

Fork End Swedge

Closer shot of quadrant end swedge and cable core

My initial impressions:

This appears to be a well-built cable. The cable itself is the type of braid that uses a larger number of small strands versus a small number of large strands.
The swedges on each end are the enclosed type versus the "fish weight" style you see on cheap cables. They do not appear to be like the kind that just [pop off] at a traffic light and rust from the inside out.

What I cannot see:

I don't know what kind of liner this cable has inside of the spiral metal casing. Without cutting it open, there's no way to tell if it is lined like the OEM style cable housing or if it's just the metal rib like we see on cheap Chinese cables and adjustable.

So the two I have new are a recently bought stock Ford cable that was made in Taiwan and a Steeda adjustable also made in Taiwan which leads me to believe made in the same place which I believe is what Steeda claims.

Factory cable:

Steeda cable:

So here are the shots of the factory cable and it’s 59” end to end:

Steeda cable at 60.5” end to end. This one is already prepped for either of my cars as they have firewall adjusters. The rubber end was identical to the factory one.

Hope these help.

Steeda offers 2 adjustable cables, fox and 96 up I beleive... The 96 should be longer so if its a good one that might be a better option for some... I've used the frpp stock replacements in the past, not the streeda adjustables, better then parts store stuff but still not the oem ford quality. it does look from those pics its the same manufacturer. I wonder if the frpp adjustable is the same now, it wasn't when I had the old SVO quadrant kit in the late 90's, I broke too many of those.

So, I finally got around to it. It looks like the only real 'add' here is I took some diameters of each cable, and I'm the first in with the Maximum Motorsports cable. I didn't have extra wood lying around like you lumberjacks out there, so I just rigged up a little something on my workbench. I measure a bit differently that the guys above. I 'hooked' the clutch pedal side of the cable to one side of my workbench, stretched the cable as tautly as I could using a ratchet-rope and measured from the clutch pedal surface (not the unusable tip like the others) and measured to the start of the 'bell shape' on the other end that would mate with the clutch fork. Then I measured the cable diameter, followed by the sheath diameter. The diameters b/w the cables were all very close to one another:

Measurement rollup :
Length (Pedal Mounting surface to clutch fork mounting surface):
Cable diameter:
Sheath diameter
MM69 1/2"0.119"0.422"
OEM:57 1/2"0.120"0.410"
Steeda:59 1/4"0.121"0.420"

Maximum Motorsports.
Notes: Lightly used. Removed fender and firewall mounts. Authentic as I purchased this directly from MM:

OEM.
Notes: Purchased in June '23. Looks lightly used. Came in correct box, but could possibly be wrong as part numbers don't match exactly:
Part# possible discrepancy:

Another claimed OEM cable on ebay that leads me to believe that my cable is a legitimate OEM lightly used cable (they both even have purple on the pedal end's tip):

Steeda.
Notes: Directly purchased. As new. Extended Clutch Fork end to the maximum allowed while still achieving full thread contact on the lock nut:

CJ Pony Parts "OEM" but definitely Not OEM cable.
Notes: Laid out against the MM cable for comparison. Same one as Noobz laid out above. Measurements not taken. Returned to CJ Pony:

Deals are still out there.. Snagged a oem fox body service cable on fleabay this week for about the same price as a aftermarket one. Same E4ZC vs E4ZZ print on cable vs the E4Zz on thebox, its the same thing just the service part number, third letter Z is always mustang, 4th number C is just the engineering number for engine bay stuff on a bunch of service parts. I have 3 in my parts stash now.
