Wow. Still think this price is ridiculous, and the auctions are trying to drive up prices way beyond what they are worth.

I agree. $30K for a 1983 Mustang GT?

Only think I can think of is that this is just speculative investment. These buyers are banking that values will continue to rise and have no interest in buying the car for the sake of owning a fox. They will never set foot in a forum and ask questions. They just see it as an appreciating asset, add it to their vast collection in a warehouse somewhere, and in 10-20 years they run them through the auction and hope to double or triple their money. Gotta remember, B-J is full of guys with gobs of money, warehouses with overheard that paid for, and who made their money by being good at it. Maybe once in a while an enthusiast does buy the car they dreamed about in HS, but I think most there are trying to predict market conditions 10-20 years from now and where they can make money. I get a newsletter from Haggerty that has articles dedicated towards investment opportunities and which vehicles are set to take off. It's a business, and some guys do it very well

For regular fox bodies, typical market conditions of supply and demand apply here since most here are driving and modding/restoring their car. There are still plenty of cars being hacked up, poorly modified, and wrecked. That does have real consequences on the cleaner average fox bodies out there. It doesn't mean you have a $40K fox though.

I was there on Sunday. Some beautiful cars for sure. Some didn't go for as high as one would thought. Being a no reserve auction sucks for those that lost money or even bought them back. It was pretty crowded for a Sunday. A little chilly too but it did rain on Saturday. Factory five is coming out with a new car too. I love it and can't wait to see them on the road.

Yeah, I both absolutely love foxes and absolutely do not get the idea of buying a $50k stocker no matter what the mileage is. I just think the guys with gobs of money sometimes do not care what they pay for a car. They're multimillionaires or billionaires and they probably have an advisor telling them the car is worth half that, but they want it and what's $20k?

If I won the lotto for 400 million or something like that, there's a list of Ford's I'd pay anything for just to have. At that point, paying $200K for a teal 1993 Cobra with 100 miles would be well worth it to me.

Ha! Well, I still don't think I could do that, lol. I'm sure that some semblance of what money has been to me all of my life would keep me from being ridiculous. Plus, a 100 mile Cobra of mine would very quickly become a 20k mile Cobra, lol.

Hmmm... list of Ford's.... I like that idea:
- Daytona Coupe
- 427 Shelby Cobra
- 289 Shelby Cobra
- GT40 MkI (and MkIII if that were even possible)
- '04-'06 GT
Mustangs:
- '67 Shelby GT500
- '70 428 Super Cobra Jet with 4.30 gears and Detroit Locker
- '69-'70 Boss 429
- '93 Cobra & Cobra R
- '95 Cobra R
- '00 Cobra R
- '03-'04 Cobra
- '13 GT500
- '18 GT350R
- '01+ Lightning
- '11-'14 6.2L Raptor
- '09+ 6.7L Powerstroke F350+

How'd I do? What'd I miss?

I was at Barrett Jackson last year in Uncasville CT.
Watched a 92 vert, stock, w/50k miles, auto and a horrible re-spray sell for $25k...blew my mind.

My mind is still blown that they sold a 4-cylinder, automatic, Mustang II Ghia for nearly $13k a few years back.

I like Mustang IIs... and I wouldn't even pay $13k for a damned King Cobra, much less a 4-banger Ghia!

I don't even watch the Barrett Jackson auctions anymore, got tired of watching middle aged s in Ferrari jackets price the rest of us out of the hobby.
