Update- Going tmrw morning to look over the car again and test drive. I plan on inspecting the car fully after reading the 03-04 cobra faq lol. I was approved on the loan, 36 months around 320 a month. Which isn't too bad. Pretty good considering I dont have much credit, but not bad credit. Apr was also decent for a used car.

So, I plan on viewing the car again tmrw then working out the final price. Probably will decide by Monday assuming the seller and I agree on everything, plus we will have to meet up again to finish paperwork with both our banks.

I still have been thinking about maybe getting a subaru for under 9k or I can get a good deal on a 97 Pathfinder. Then just start really working on the 93 GT.

Its a hard decision.....

If you haven't driven a Scoobie I'd say try it out. I love mine.

Im 26 years old, currently working full time. Living in the bay area, Im not looking at being able to afford a house around here anytime soon. Right now I pay rent which is very affordable, no credit card bills, everything I do own is paid off.

I thought about getting more of a daily driver that is better on gas, but then Im worried something I get might break down and I would want something id enjoy driving also so that would mean more money(maybe a wrx). My friend bought a maxima as a daily driver so he could start working on his 67 mustang. Now, both cars are down. I don't want that to happen either.

The cobra I'm looking at has a few things done already. It has full bassani exhaust, FR deep dish wheels, HR lowering springs, tri-ax shifter and a canton overflow tank. It has enough power as it sits and looks/sounds mean, so I wouldn't be looking to mod for awhile, maybe down the road.

UPDATE #2

Went to check out the cobra this morning, beautiful weather and a nice drive in the 5.0.

Cobra looks good, could hear her coming from a good mile away. Checked out all fluids, oil looked good. Inspected for leaks, didn't see any. It has aftermarket coolant res, also slightly smaller pulley with no cover, looks like all the pulleys are billet mrp I believe. Has full bassani exhaust- shorty headers, x pipe with cats, no mufflers tho just straight pipes and 3 inch tips. Had Tri-ax shifter just installed. Owner just put HID headlights in a few weeks ago not sure how much I like them tho.

Body in good condition minus a chip on left rear quarter the size a dime that the guy touched up, has normal rock chips bottom front. Only ding on the car is on the passenger side rear wheel well again size of a dime that im sure the dent guy could do easily, but the normal person prob wouldnt notice. Interior is in great shape, normal wear on drivers seat getting in and out but better than most cobras ive looked at.

Things that slightly bothered me: aftermarket radio and a real cheap one at that. Spare tire is gone and whatever else should be under there maybe tools or at least a jack. Thinking of getting 17X9 spare since I have an extra nitto tire in the garage. The left side inner trunk panel clip broken off, looks like there is some type of electronic box back there (anyone have a clue what that could be???) Owner had no clue. And I would probably put mufflers on, maybe dynomax bullets or borla stingers?

Only problem I came across: I test drove the car on a back street got on it a little bit but I dont like to push someone elses car but just enough to get the feel. OMG this thing pulls. Almost didnt like that the exhaust was so loud because hard to hear the whine of the sc. Anyways, drove on the freeway, car shifts nice altho still getting use to how close the gears are and using all 6. BUt sure is nice to cruise in 6th. Turned A/C on, got cold instantly(so nice),tested the heater, etc. So, got back to the parking lot we met at and let the car idle. Looked for leaks again, etc. Turned car off and just talked to the owner and inspected a few more things. Then I asked him to start it up again...

The hood was open, I was standing near driver side wheel well. Right when he started the car, I saw white smoke coming out of the engine bay from the passenger side firewall area. It lasted only a few seconds maybe 15 seconds, at the most 25 seconds then went away. Notice it also from the bottom coming out right behind the left front tire at the same time, and normal exhaust from the tails. He wasnt sure what it was either. I looked in that area where theres a bunch of wiring. Looked under the car couldnt see anything or any leaks, etc.

We turned the car off, waited a few mins then started again, this time no smoke, etc. SO, never saw the smoke again after that. I talked to one of my mechanic friends who worked for ford and he thinks it might have just been steam from the a/c drain hitting the converter or headers, etc. Any ideas?

I'm going to think everything over and prob make a decision by Monday. Sorry this post was so longggg

The box could be a lo-jack.

Not to be nosy, but did you ever run a Carfax or similar type check for any hidden surprises on the car ? I will never buy a used car again without doing that first.

Yeah, ran carfax already- checks out clean.

I was actually looking at this exact same car a little over a year ago but couldn't get financing in time. Now, the new owner is selling it. So had the carfax from the last time also. Everything this owner has told me matches up from the last time. I even stayed in contact with the previous owner so asked him a bunch of questions also. I'm waiting for him to get back to me about what that could be in the trunk area.

The thing is, im only looking at this cobra and feel like its my second chance seeing how I missed out last year. If I decide not too do it or he gets another buyer then I guess it wasnt meant to be and I'l just start fixing the 5.0.
