Ok.. From those that have done the swap, or have seen a car w/ it done.

Which hoods will fit over top of a Fox3 car w/ a 351W in it?

I'm putting one in my '92, I plan on using convertable motor mounts to drop the motor a little, but I'm still undecided on the hood I want.

I would like the Stormin' Norman hood, but I don't think it will clear the upper intake. My next pick is the Cobra R hood. But I think the lines on it are a little to smooth for a Fox body Mustang.

Any one that knows which hoods will fit, please post up!!

Thanks!

I've heard a minimum of 2 1/2'' hood. That's if you don't use drop mounts and what not to drop the motor height. I'am still working on mine so I couldn't tell you for sure. I hate cowl hoods and I hope that I don't have to go bigger than 2 1/2.

I have personally seen 351's in foxes that were fuel injected using a stock hood so I am not sure what kinda clearance issues you will have. Check out some of the mags and see what they have for hoods a bunch of those folks run 351's. Are you wanting a sleeper type car or just looking for an opinion on style?

I think the 2 1/2" will clear it fine. I was thinking the same thing about the stormin norman hood.

I have the 351W with Injection swap. Cobra 3" R hood is the best. I had the 2 1/2 cowl hood and it still rubbed. Although I do have the Massive Trick Flow R intake. What intake do you have?

if you really............ want the sleeper look get some vert mounts and have some one shave a little off you lower intake and just play with it from there to decide what fits. (i have seen this done on a 302 that HAD!!!!! to have 100% original factory ford parts on it so they shaved the lower to clear the hood)

You would have to shave it down to nothing, lol. I have my lower intake milled, and vert mounts and it nowhere near clears the factory hood. But once again I do have the Trick Flow R Intake, a winsor needs the air though

I use a Cervini's Cobra R on mine. I have a Victor 5.8 intake, which is probably about as tall as they come for an injected 351W, and convertible mounts. I don't think the convertible mounts lower the engine much, if any, and with a big pan on there, you don't want to lower the engine much because you will have K-member or steering rack clearance problems. The hood looks fine on the car. An added bonus is that it doesn't create the heat problem that some fully open (at the back) cowl hoods do where all the expelled engine heat is sucked in through the cowl vents and your HVAC system blows HOT all the time.

Good luck with your project.
