Fox's with PBR calipers...what hose are you using?

I did a quick search and didn't find any results, I've read all the web pages available on the 5-lug converstions and such. I think I read that the stock hose on a fox can be used with a PBR front caliper, but something has to be ground down for it to work. I also read that stainless steel brake lines should work but are there any factory hoses that will bolt right in without any issues or spending $100 on stainless hoses?

P.S. I started my hunt for 5-lug converstion parts yesterday, found 2 PBR calipers off a 2000 V6 mustang and a master cylinder off a 94 GT, all in great shape for $50 .

if you grind the located ear off the brake hose at the caliper end/banjo bolt end you can reuse your stock lines.

But with most foxes having 100K+ on thier stock rubber hoses, why not spend the money for peace of mind? MM sells a pair for under $75 last i checked.

If you buy SS lines, just get them spec'd for a Fox. The heads on all SS lines will fit any caliper. Buy buying Fox lines, you don't need to worry about hard line adapters.


If you go OEMlines, get the 99-04 lines.

I have fox spec russel lines, wonder if they will work if/when I upgrade to Cobras

Are you sure on this as my russel lines have blocks on the end. They worked on my 95 calipers, but I don't want to remove them to put my cobras on.

Post pics. I may be able to tell from a glance if they will work.

Most SS lines have rounded heads where they bolt to the caliper.

They have a square block where they mount to the caliper. They are mounted on the car right now or I'd snap a pic. I mean I can get some stangsuspension ones for the cobra calipers and the weatherhead fitting, but really don't want to spend the cash if I don't have to.

Hard to say then. Usually they do fit.

The Fox and SN95 designation for the lines usually only applies to where the lines connect to the body hard lines. The heads that go on the calipers are usually the same.

Hard to say without seeing them.

My "new-to-me" cobra calipers will be here next week so, we'll see, I guess. I'll take pics as I move them around.

i have the same calipers ,but haven't the clue as to what hoses to get ...a part # would help....i was looking at the MM hoses but which ones do i get ?

I bought the Russel SS Braided lines for a 99GT mustang and got the brake line adapter from 50resto.

maximum motorsports has the ss lines. i have them, direct bolt on. you just have to get the right thread pitch.

If they look exactly like those, then those should fit. They have the 99+ head design which fits both the Cobra and 99-04 GT caliper

I havent' looked at them in a year, but I'm almost 100% that is what they look like. I'll know soon enuff, I guess.

I'm gonna look pretty silly with cobra binders up front and drums in the back (for now--I'll do the major rear upgrade this winter) at the last 2 autocross events this year.
