Ok guys and gals I just bought a tko600 and all the stuff to go along with it.Now the question is I just purchased an aluminum driveshaft and noticed it has a weight on it or thats what it seams to be,on the tail end of the shaft by the U-J.Is there a certain way to install to avoid the vibration.I marked the stock one on disassembly stock shaft don't seem to be weighted( could be wrong)thats where you fine people come in.

appreciate all your help and thanks for the past info on all my Mustang needs.

There is no particular way to install the driveshaft and the weight that is attached to it. Just bolt it on which ever way the 4 bolts line up first for you

Is it a sn95 driveshaft(31splined yoke)Or a fox body d/s(28 splined)..The fox wont work with the tko unless you change the YOKE,if you do that the d/s needs to be balanced again..

But if its the sn95 one its a straight bolt in .

The alum d/s are better balanced than the stockers..

I haven't changed the yoke yet and needs to be done waiting on delivery. So the D/S has to be rebalanced? What if it isn't rebalanced?

Yeah, as white99gt said, I hope you got the right parts to match - tranny and driveshaft splines, I'm sure you did...

If its new SEND IT BACK.Then reorder a SN95 d/s then its a straight bolt in.Same length with the correct yoke..

If you DONT rebalance it after changing the yoke ,its gonna vibrate like crazy(been there)..

LOL order a alum d/s for a 96up mustang..Its the same length as a fox but comes with a 31splined yoke(ford upgraded their output shafts around 96).

The 96 up alum d/s bolts straight in..

Actually there is a Correct way to install a Driveshaft, there should be a Mark on the Companion Flange and a Mark on the Driveshaft itself, those marks line up with each other.

Interesting - Is there a mark on the aluminum driveshaft as well?

I have had my aluminum driveshaft in and out several times, never a vibration no matter how I installed it.

Any dissassembly and reassembly of a driveshaft, we have never had a problem, my friends and I.

Thats the correct way MOST of the time.
But the fms d/s do not have a marking on the flange. There is no need to "phase match" the alum d/s because it is better balanced than the stockers.

Ive had mine out many times with no vibrations noted (no marking).

The Ford Racing Driveshaft I bought was marked with a small green or yellow Dot on it to match up with the mark on my Companion Flange.

As you can clearly see in this write up the Pic of the Ford Racing Driveshaft has a Yellow Paint Dot that is to be lined up with the Mark on the Companion Flange.

The one in the Article is for an SN95. I have done a few on Foxes and they all had the Paint Mark, never did one on a SN95 though.
