The column comes with a GM connector installed. The kit has a ford connector and pins to put on the ends of the wires.

None of the colors match up. And I would like to know how to affix those metal connector pins.

Anybody installed one of these columns and still had working horn and turn, signals?

any other tips? I also will be installing the FR manual rach & pinion at the same time...

Directions that came with the kit is very general and offers little detail.

I'm in the process of installing one of these in my 66, you're right the instructions are not very good. I used the wiring diagram to figure out which color wire in my harness did what and then made a color to color chart so everything matched up. I also purchased the turn signal dimmer switch option for mine. What a pain this POS is, two of the smallest gauge wires I've ever seen that have to be threaded inside the column to exit where the other wires do. I spent the better part of an afternoon with some baling wire used like a fish the thread the wires. I have not yet decided if I'm going to keep the original 4 way flasher switch or use the F/R one in the column.

For the terminals you will need a different type of crimper, one these is what I have, http://www.weatherpack.com/weatherpacktools.html I already had this tool since I used some of the GM weather pack terminals for my EFI conversion.

I also had a lot of fun trying to figure out if I could use my Moto Lita wheel, in the end I had to modify the adapter and creat my own wiring for the horn switch. Having been one of the first to purchase the F/River rack and pinion kit, I should have known better than to think that this would be as easy as they say in their ads.

Remember that the left and right turn signal connection from the car will have two wires, one for the lights and the other for the indicators on the dash. I cut out a section of the insulation one one and soldered the other wire in place. I did this an inch or so above the GM adapter and used heat shrink tubing to seal it up. I purchased some extra of these terminals from a parts store in case I had problems and so I could connect the headlight dimmer switch thru the same connector.

These connectors are called GM Pack-Con and are available from Help!, the part numbers are (female) 85327 (male) 85326, there are 5 to a package.

Hertz, how did you end up doing the mota lita ? I had to cut the end off of one adapter and weld it to the other. All because I tried to save the customer money by going with the GM spline instead of the ford spline. I new he wanted after market, then he picked the motoa lita.
The ends, I used small needle nose to roll the clips over. Once they were flat, got out the trusty vise grips and smashed them.
All of my wiring did not match up either. I took a just wire after finding a hot wire and looped one by one together with my buddies help. I started n the back. I touched wire after wire until he said "OK," when he saw a tailight come on. then I wrote that down.( The horn you can find out yourself) I took the wiring diagram from FR and attached it to my own list.

I used the Ford spline column, I had to use a sanding drum in my Dremel to open up the hole in the adapter so it would slide over the splines. I used the F/River supplied plate for the horn connections, and removed the plastic plate on the underside of the Moto Lita adapter. I soldered the positive wire of the horn to the F/R plate. drilled a hole inside the well of the Moto Lita adapter for a self tapping screw to provide a ground. I have two wires to connect to the Moto Lita horn button just like I did with the original column. Need a photo?????

I didn't have any issues with the wiring, all of the color keys in my harness matched the factory diagram, it was just a simple matter of reading the key that F/R supplied and making the connections. Trying to fit all of this new stuff neatly under the dash is challenging.

In addition to the column, I'm installing power windows, key-less entry with a power trunk release, and cleaning up the rat's nest of wires from my EFI install. Here is a photo of the bracket that holds all but the relay for the horn and new column mounted dimmer switch.
