Freakin' fog lights.....my left one keeps going out.....(Moisture)

About a week and a half ago I noticed my left fog light stopped working, so I took it to the Ford garage and they put a new one in for free. He said that there was some moisture in there and it probably shorted out.

So just yesterday, it goes out again. We have been have some pretty crappy weather here so that was probably the cause but I'm not sure what to do to keep this from continually happening.

Any yes, my GT is a daily driver.

There is a short in them. A lot of mustangs get that crap it pisses me off. Honestly i run into a few mustangs where the fog lights work.

Mine is pretty bad every time i turn them on lights flicker inside the car. Sometimes the lights outside go out. So i just took them off. I never did like how fog lights looked on my 96 GT.

You have to find the short and fix it.

You might need a new lense. The lense might be allowign moisture to get into the fog light and then causing the bulb to rupture.

this is probably it, my stock ones were doing that too so I bought clear lenses
bulbs kept exploding

Trust me that is the problem...I went through 3 bulbs before opting for a new lense, since then it has lasted ever since. Only problem is now...I need a new lense for the other side...one lense is new and the other is old...and it is very obvious.

yeah, I had 2 sets blow in a week until I searched the boards and found that it was probably due to leaking housing (since the bulbs were exploded and wet). so i bought a set of lenses... why'd you buy only 1

Same thing on my '98 GT. 1 exploded, replaced it, it exploded again. I bought a new housing... Works fine 1 month and counting, but one's waaay brighter than the other, which is magnified by my blueish tinted bulbs.

Only one was blowing and I really didn't think to purchase another at the time..I know dumass...I will soon get another. It annoys the hell out of me.

I have the same problem my right fog light blows out alot from moisture I have a new housing on order

Yes, check the lenses, take them off the car an maybe partialy submerge them to see if water is getting in. If thats not it just remember to put dielectic in the connections (that should be done at any wire connection outside the cab IMO).

I took off the housing, drilled two small holes in the bottom on either side and haven't had a blown bulb in 8 months. The holes allow the moisture a place to escape so it does not build up and splash onto the bulbs. It's cheaper than buying a new housing.

My left side kept blowing and I found a crack in the top of the housing. Before buying a new housing I got some liquid epoxy and cleaned, sanded and glued the snot out of that thing. I haven't had a bulb blow afterwards. Three weeks later the other side went and I found a crack in the very same place (on the top of the housing). I glued that one too and again, no more problems...

if moisture is a problem, put some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and spray your connectors out, Isopropyl alcohol is excellent at desplacing water. I would recommend doing this after any extended period of rainy weather. Especially if your lights keep going out due to moisture.
