What is the best brand?
Any sound better than others?
Stainless is the way to go right?

I want to buy some with my Bassani system but need to know what's the right thing to do.

Thanks,

Vince

Bassani makes some high flow cats, plus you have the option to run with and without cats, for all you emision peeps

If you live in CA, I would not recommend Bassani Cats. I had their X-Pipe installed in 2003 on my Speedster right before my smog check. It did well then since I had zero miles on them however I just barely passed smog a few weeks ago and I have only put 1,500 miles on the car since the install. Both Chicane and XMP don't sell Bassani products for this reason and Bassani won't refund or replace the cats.
Needless to say I will never buy a Bassani product again.......

Any opinions on the Magnaflow X pipe w/cats? I believe it's stainless, isn't it? I've got their stainless catback on my Fucos, and really like it...

Magnaflow makes an excellent X-Pipe as well.
I have the Bassani Catted X-Pipe on the Speedster and the Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe on the Coupe. Both have the same ceramic coated Saleen shorty ceramic coated headers and Borla XR-1 Race mufflers. I personally love the sound of the Bassani much more then the Magnaflow ( a deeper grumble) however it just a matter of preference. Since I drive the coupe much more then the speedster, the Magnaflow X-Pipe has about the same mileage on the catts as the speedster does. It passed SMOG emissions with flying colors a few months back!!!!
I would go with a Bassani and keep the stock h-pipe with the four cat's just for smog reasons. (if you live in a emissions non-friendly state) It is a pain in the *ss to switch out every two years but what are you going to do????

...and yes, magnaflow is a stainless steel system!!!

The reason the Magnaflow passes so much better is because our converters are EPA certified OBDII where the Bassani are not-

I have your catted x-pipe and have been very happy with it. My car also passed the emissions portion of the smog check and the tech either didn't notice the pipe was aftermarket or was too lazy to check into it. It would be nice if the thing were C.A.R.B.'d. Any plans to go through the process?

Move to Arizona! Any OBDII vechicle (96-newer) has easy smogs. Check gas cap for holding a vacuum, cel function and check for codes. No sniffer test!!! Price $27.75.
No more CA for me.

Anyhow, I love the sound and fitment of the Bassani.

We are currently working on something right now- the biggest thing that Mustang owners will not like however is the fact that on the 99-04 we will have to put on 4 high flow converters-

On OBDI vehicles we have certification to replace two converters with one, however on OBDII we have to maintain the same number of converters as stock- that is the only way we will be able to produce a CARB certified piece-

So it will be-

- more expensive, and not produce the same hp gains, (will probably be about 3-4 hp less) however it will be CARB legal-

Not to mention Oregon and Washington have now began the process to adopt the CARB standards as well though-

Thanks for the compliments though- good to know we are doing our job over here

Four cats, like the pipe Saleen offered on the '02-'04 S281s.

I'm sure you would prefer me to just purchase another Magnflow X-Pipe for the speedster, but will your converters fit on a Bassani X-Pipe???

Don't get me wrong, I love the way the Coupe sounds with your X-pipe but its like the first love of your life. The Bassani just has that different sound that drives me crazy....

I have the bassani cat-back with the x-pipe and I love how it sounds and I don't have problems with emissions, but the only problem that i have is that it doesn't pass visual but yea you live in Texas so you shouldn't have a problem.
