Unfortunately for me I didn't come out of Friday the 13th untouched....

I used to love the rain.... now I am going to hate ever touching a car in the rain... I was on my way home and decided that I should go get gas before I got there.... To get to the station I use from my work there is a large "L" shaped road you can take... well I went down the leg of that road and when I got to the end of it i started breaking... the car didn't slow down and I paniced so I locked up the brakes bad idea.... I slid (hydroplaned) around 100 feet over the curb and into the lovely brick wall on the other side.... It was lovely.... The cop wrote me a ticket for "failure to control speed to avoid a collision" and I am going to take school for it.... Now the big question is what to do in this situation.... I am 16 and I ran my insurance on that car if I let the insurance pay for this accident and it comes out to about 700 a month.... I'm wondering if I should just pay the money for the wall out of pocket and hopefully save enough to fix (or possibly buy another car with the chance this is totalled) my car... I might be out of a car for a while but I can't afford to have the insurance pay for this or I don't drive at all for 3 years...... Just thought I'd share my little story and ask for any ideas on what to do about it.. ... NIGHT

Ouch that sucks. From experience i would say pay for it outta your pocket. Having a wreck on your record just gives the insurance company another excuse to milk ya like a used heffer!

buy a new car... your insurance will go thru the roof if you try to claim it and they would probably drop you for being a "unsafe" driver

Yea tell me about it... and to top it off I might be charged at fault for the last accident (when the guy ran a red and hit me) so I will already have an accident on my record... but i found out I can take off the coverage for my car and it'll still be affordablew it just sucks cause if anything happens my car doesn't get fixed... then again it's not getting fixed right now...

Well it is a total loss. The frame wasn't bent, the only reason they are totalling it is because there is an estimated 7,000 damage to a 4,600 car. so I get a check from them for 4,700 (5,700-1,000(deduct)) so I guess i get to go shopping (but i donm't think it'll be for a stang :-() anyways that is what i know.... am I still allowed to post here?

My 2001 doesn't have ABS. But I did my first two years of driving in my '66 with 4-wheel drum brakes, so to me ABS is something for Camry drivers.

More like Volvo time.

Civic's are still high on insurance because of all the Vin Diesel wannabes that go wrapping them around trees.

I WILL NOT DRIVE A CIVIC~ lol.... I WANT another stang, but I am ahppy with the idea of a truck... My Stang did NOT have ABS... it was an option but the buyer didn't have them put on... I don't think it would have made any difference cause immediately when I started braking the car started sliding.... it was SLIPPERY!

I had to look the word up in the dictionary to see what the hell it means. BTW for you that don't know it, it translates into "without a doubt"
