Electrical Fried my window motor…

Have my door panel disassembled right now and I slammed the door close and forgot the switches were dangling and I accidentally broke my power window switch. I took it apart and put everything back the way I thought it goes. Then when I tried it the switch got hot and started to smoke. Now that power window does not go up at all not even with the driver side switch. The driver side door window still works though and all the power locks.

I’m just wondering is it most likely the motor that got fried or is there anything else it can be.

Hmmm. Can you remove the driver's side switch and test it directly on the passenger side? This will tell you what is bad. You can always put a multimeter on the leads that attach to the motor and see if you get 12v when you activate it from the driver's side switch.

Well when I try the switch for that window on the drivers side it doesn’t work so I believe it is not switch related

If the door panel is off and the harness for the window motor is accessible you can try jumping it with 12 volts.
This will bypass the switch and test/power the motor direct.
If nothing happens when jumped, reverse the wires from the 12v source to the motor which will change direction of the motors movement (rolling window up vs down).
This should power your window motor if it’s not fried.

Good thinking brother! I tried the switch that powered the other window after switching it over and it works! Guess I just need two new switches for that problem window. Thanks for saving me the trouble of changing that motor lol.
