my friend has a 347 stroker in his 91 and everytime someone asks whats under his hood he tells them a 347 and they say "A STROKER? BADASS!" nobobdy thinks its close to a 350 and I really have never even talked to anyone who would think like that, but then again i dont talk to retards. Oh and by the way you gotta remember that practically every engine ford made chevy has right a few cubes away. Dont blame chebbie for trying to keep up with the big dogs, sport your 347 and say it proud.... I have a 347 stroker, bi@tch!

You are basically saying people are stupid for not realizing its a 302 or knowing stroker engine sizes.

Actually, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that I for one would get sick of having to explain that "no, I didn't swap a Chevy engine into my Ford, and yes, I do know it's a 351, not a 350, but that's not what I've got in any case". I'm not saying people are stupid for not knowing stroker engine sizes, just that there are plenty of people to whom 350 automatically means Chevy, and plenty more who would think you just misspoke if you said you had a 350W. Am I saying this is a big deal and something to be all bent about? No. I'm just saying people constantly asking why you dropped a Chevy motor in a Fox would get old in a hurry. If it were me, I'd just say I had a stroked smallblock and leave it at that. If they are interested in the cubic inches, they can ask, if not, whatever. But that's just me.

Remember chevy did make a DZ302 which is numerically the same as a 5.0 so tell you buddy to suck it up and deal with the extra ponies the 350 will give him.
Also I can't believe anybody could confuse a Chevy motor with a Ford motor after they have looked at under the hood. That would be like confusing a Ford 9" rearend with a 8.8".

My friend is so annoyingly anal about Fords!!! He's in the process of building his stroker and he wanted to go 331, but they only had the .040 pistons for the 347 kit. He went ahead and just got the 347 kit but he's pissed off because that means he'll have a 350. He doesnt want a 350 because its a Chevy engine size. I thought it was funny because he can tell people his 65 Falcon has a 350 in it. But he doesnt think so. I know this isnt exactly tech but it is humorous and I've never thought before that a 40 over stroker would be a 350. Now he's going to have 8 more cubes than me for the bragging rights. He's going to go with AFR heads too. Thats another thing; this engine will never see past 3k. He is the granniest driver in the world and its so annoying. He gets rice pulled on him all the time in his 5.0 but he wont race them. Its embarrassing. Tell me what you all think. Would you build an AFR headed 350 to just go cruising?

just tell them it's a 302 and be done with it

so he's gonna have a 347? 347 isn't 350...that's saying the 302 is bad because it's a chevy 305... Tell him he's close to a Ford 351 as well!

a 347 stroker is a 4.030 bore, a 4.040 bore would create 350 cubes

its hard to find an aftermarket piston for a stock bore. everybody bores them out. when you get a stroker, you also bore.

No...

The formula for displacement is Displacement = PI x (Radius x Radius) x Stroke x Number of Cylinders

For a 347 stroker kit with 0.040" over pistons, the following is true...

Radius = 4.040"/2 = 2.02"
Pi = 3.1415926535897932384626433832795
Stroke = 3.4"
Number of Cylinders = 8

Now, Displacement = 3.1415926535897932384626433832795 x 2.02 x 2.02 x 3.4 x 8 = 348.675566852851951382064785662836

In other words, it's closer to a 348 or 349 CI engine... NOT a 350. And if it WAS a 350, why would it matter? It sounds like the friend has issues!

A 4.00" bore 347 kit would actually be a 342... The manufacturers assume that you will have to bore at least 0.030" when they name the kits arbitrary things like 331 or 347. A stock bore 331 kit would actually be about 327 and a stock bore 347 kit would actually be about 342. I know, it's confusing...

I'd just tell people it's a 347 if it really bothered me.. I'd rather be under than say it's a 351. As far as building it and not using the power.. Heck go to any classic hot rod car show where you got all the trailor queens in their glory, and don't get me wrong I every time i see some of them old classics with their built big blocks, but even though a lot of them get driven a couple of times a year and pampered, I know a good portion of them still have the parts to go fast and could unlease a deadly A$$ beating on a lot of cars. Build it for one and one only. Yourself.

I think the dumbass should just give his money to me, instead of spending it on mods that he isn't going to use!

He could always just say "I have a ford 302 stroked and bored to 350."
