hi there,

i own a 1995 V6 and i was wondering if i can get an 4.6 engine from a 96-98 GT and replace it , i am not sure if they can match because 94-95 GT are 5.0 and 96-98 are 4.6 but once againg 94-98 same car..., there is any mod that i need to do to change an engine from a 95 3.8 to get an GT engine that is not 5.0 ? because i know for sure.. that 5.0 will use way more gas.. and am trying to run and safe money

can i just buy a 96-98 GT Engine and change it ??

you would have to change the crossmember from a 96 and then maybe the tranny member. way too much work.

not as big of deal as everyone makes it out to be if your qualified and you have a donor car-you are gonne need the k-member and motor mounts the rear end,the motor of course the exhaust, the computer, wiring and etc if you have a donor you can pull it right off and swap it out. might be easier to get someone professional to do it for you if your not comfortable with all that.

I will tell you exactly what you will need:

engine
tranny
radiator
fan
wiring harness
computers (getting the computer logistics together was the hardest of it all!)
master cylinder
new exhaust...it won't mount up the same..
driveshaft

really need, but not 100% necessary:

new rear axle..go up to the 8.8"
new suspension in the front...engine is much heavier
new fuel pump...mine eventually went out
new clutch...mine eventually went out

this is more of a headache than you will ever know...for the guy who said it isn't that big of a deal...try it...

if you have any questions...feel free to drop me an email..

you can also check my website, I have a ton of pics on there of the process..

hope that helps,
eric
