Front bumper cover install

For anybody that has done this, what size are the rivets along the top where the latch is? I know 50resto sells them but it doesn't say what size they are. I picked up a cover and the guy gave me some rivets but there are no guns that I have found that will accept a rivet that size. They look about the same size as the rivets that are on the cover now. I'm not gonna go spend $100+ on a rivet gun to shoot 3-4 rivets.

I was actually going to ask a similar question later this week when my bumper cover comes in. What tools are need for the install? Mine is not coming with any rivots will I have to buy some as well as a gun? And how does one remove the exisiting one

No problem guys. I finally found a rivet gun on the 50resto site and it's not to bad, only $25. As for rivets yeah you'll need to buy some. You might could find them at a dealer or 50resto has them too. Someone else can chime in on this but just from counting there were I think 9 rivets across the top of the cover. If you go pop your hood you'll see them. Then there are bolts down the sides where it meets the fender, 3 per side I believe. Those look like they are going to be a lot of fun getting off.

So if I have my steps correct it'll go something like:

-remove lights from bumper cover
-drill out rivets
-remove nuts/bolts (don't forget the air deflector underneath if you still have one)
-pull the cover leaving the header panel attached to the car

That's how I'm going to try it first anyways. If somebody else wants to correct me feel free though.

Can you post the link to the rivot gun? I cannot seem to find it there. Found the rivots tho. The seem to offfer black ones and silver ones. Is there any difference?

Rivets here, mine now are silver but these look black, it doesn't matter.

Looks like the link to the gun is messed up. Here is the part number LRS-41291. If you type rivet gun in the search box it will take you to it.

When I did mine I picked up a big rivet gun at Princess Auto for about $25 but that's a Canadian company.Harbor Freight or Northern Tools should sell something similar.The rivets I got from an industrial fastener store.

I checked every parts/hardware store in town and nobody had one. There is a Northern on my way to work so I'll stop by there and see if they have one. According to their site they don't but we'll see. Thanks

Drill it out. no biggy

You can probably take the rivet to a hardware store and match it to a rivet washer then get the corresponding rivet. Good luck.
