hi , is there anyone out there that has changed your front brake pads? i can't seem to get the piston to go down far enough, even though i opened the cap on my MC, should i open the bleed screw? thank for your help...
I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is no "StangNet" staff waiting around to answer your questions... If you needed an immediate answer, you should use Google or a similar search engine. There are plenty of internet write-ups on how to change brake pads.
Did you compress the caliper? If not, with the new, thicker pads, it's no wonder that you are having difficulty getting the caliper to fit over the rotor. DO NOT open the bleeders while changing the pads (unless you are trying to make a huge mess). You can buy or rent a caliper compressing tool, or use a large C clamp.
+1 on the large c clamp. Just compress the hell out of it, you wont hurt the caliper (just don't overdo it) and you should see the level rise in the master cylnder. If you don't see the level rise just a hair, then you arent compressing the brake cylnder well enough. I've found that taking the caliper off the disc and compressing the cylnder by hand also works, albeit takes alot of strength. Try that or check out BULLITT Front Brake Pad Change

First of all i am aware that no one is waiting on me hand and foot. i was sitting here before and didn't relize it was going to take a bit longer to get a responce.
Thank you for your input, i am using a C clamp and did open the MC cap and compressed the caliper , my problem is i think my pads as u sated are too thick.. but why in the hell would anyone sell you pads that thick that may not fit or fit too tight...
Getting the new pads on is a bit tricky...but just keep trying. Insert the pads on both sides of the caliper then put the caliper on the disc and keep wedging it on. It'll eventually go

I thought maybe sanding the pads down? they are only about a paper thickness too thick.. but i also was wondering will they heat up being that they're touching ? will i have problems?
I got them on .. what a bitch! a little massaging and they went on... repainted calipers since i scuffed them up. Man thick brake pads! I did not think they would make pads that thick... i would never order thicker brake pads.
