I let the drivers front lower control arm down to add lowering springs and the original one was cracked! Wow what a surprise. I was wondering how often this happens. The cars body is 105,000 miles. I figure this was why I had some unexplained tire wear. Maybe others should check if this is another one of those harmonic balancer type issues (75,000 miles and the rubber falls out)
