Front End Popping Question

So we all know about the front end popping problem. My question is, what exactly does it sound like? Is it a constant pop, pop, pop type sound when turning? I'm asking because when I make a u-turn at slow speeds and I turn the wheel all the way to one side or the other I get a single pop sound when the steering wheel hits the end of its turning distance... My build date is right at the cut-off on the TSB.

I just had mine fixed and it was doing the same as yours. It's a single pop when turning in either direction.

On the topic of that problem: I had mine fixed a while back, and now it's doing it again, possibly worse. Since the first fix, I had my car lowered, so might that be something they can hold against me if I take it in, even if the problem is identified by Ford?

It was more like a single pop. Sounded kind of "clunky". Wasn't exactly when the wheel was turned ALL the way, though.

I'm just worried of the quality of the work and the fixes currently available. My Skipper 1000 skips (its a B unit) and I get that pop in the front end... but from what I hear, some people have had this problems fixed, and they stayed fixed, while others had them fixed and they started all over again. I think I'll wait a little longer to get them fixed. Maybe Ford will have real fixes by the 07 model year.
Between the fixes not fixing and the workers damaging the cars (or taking them out for midnight fun), I'm a little weary about taking mine in. Personal experience is 2 out of 3 times the Ford dealer has screwed something up for me. Once they didn't bother to tighten the cap on the master cylinder, and another time they didn't tighten the battery cable (battery drained and car stalled.) Lucky for me I found both problems and fixed them.

Well, since you mentioned it...the dealer I took mine to (the dealer I purchased from) took mine on a 30 - 40 mile "test drive" for a problem that centered around a "popping noise while turning at low speeds". I was livid.

I think if it's a "blue oval" certified dealer, they're probably worried about what customers think about them when they get their surveys. If you're worried about it, just tell them that YOU want to go on the "test drive" with them. If the problem holds true to form, it will happen while in the parking lot of the dealer ship, so you're not waisting a whole lot of time and they get to "duplicate" the problem. Then, they get to order parts and you get your car back while you wait on parts. When you take it back, simply tell them that you will again be taking them on the "test drive" to ensure the problem is fixed.
