i want to switch my 70 mustang from manual 4wheel drum brakes to front power disc brakes. also, were switching my engine in a while to a V8 so were going to swap my 4-lugs to 5 lugs and want a "beefier" rear end.

8" rears are dirt cheap and quite reliable for mild driving up to ~375 fwhp.

Regarding the front power discs there are many options, can you give more insight into your budget and expectations?

I just installed this kit on my '69 stang and it went pretty smoothly. The brakes feel great.

once I get $500 I was going to invest it in a granada brake set up with slotted rotors for better braking. Heres the site.

R/C Motorsport makes a nice kit for less than $400 ,all you would need is v8 spindles.Or you could look for a used Mach1 setup ,and you would have the whoul setup.

I would recommend searching the forum. There are probably hundreds of threads with discussions of various options.

I'm in the middle of adding 1973 Mustang front disc brakes and ultrastang's Lincoln Mark VII rear disc brakes to my 1969 fastback. Mustangsteve's Cobra front kit looks very nice. I wish it came out before I began collecting parts for my swap

I used the Master Power Brakes kit

http://www.mpbrakes.com/mp4.htm

on my 70 coupe and love it.

It was a bit spendy and I have to run a vac can because of the cam I'm running but it stops almost as fast as it starts

Power Disc Brakes

I also bought the MPB kit for my '67. Haven't installed it yet but it looks to be a complete kit and pretty straightforward install. It ended up being about $900 and included rotors, 4-piston calipers, hoses, vac booster, MC, combo valve, attaching brackets and hardware. I'm sure it will be quite an improvement over my 4-wheel, non-power drum setup.

Rod & Custom RC132 kit $350. Adj prop valve $40. 1990GT booster $90 (use with manual pedal) 69 PDB MC $25. I know the 67-68 I6 & V8 spindles are the same, AFAIK the same is true for 69-70.

that price is going to be hard to beat and I know degins has put a lot of work into getting that kit together.

the only thing i would like to see different is the use of stock 68-73 style caliper brackets and calipers so the kit would be more OEm style but this is still a great deal for a disc swap.
