front shock help

Well.... my car is LOW. I have KYB shocks and noticed that there is only 1 1/4" of shock shaft left after install. I measured the shock shaft when removed from the car and it is 4 1/2" long. Looks like I need a shorter shock so I don't bottom this one out and ruin it or worse yet, send it through my fiberglass hood in the event of a hard bump. Does anyone know where I can get a shock that is about 2 - 2 3/4" shorter? (I called KYB, they don't make one) I have a 64 coupe and am using stock style shocks (two studs on the bottom that go into a roller perch and the T bar on top that bolts to the shock tower caps). Any shock will do, I just want something that will fit and not bottom out! Thanks for your help.

usually what people do is use longer bolts at the top and use a spacer to gain some travel.

I got tid of my KYB's and use Edelbrock IAS now.

A couple people I know run Fox Shocks on their lowered Stang but it sounds like you might need a custom set made. Try these guys;

I forgot who had them, but I seen a picture, I believe on stang net, of a car that had taller upper shock mounts, which will extend the shock.

Yah, part of my problem is that I have custom shock mounts that are actually lower than stock, this coupled with the car being lowered equates to having a smaller shock. I gave Alex a call at Moneymaker Racing (real nice guy), and the end result was a shorter shock with the proper ends welded on.
