I am going to be doing some front suspension work in the spring, but need to start looking at stuff now. I have the front brake/spindle setup from a 01GT/pbr front brakes. now, when i get struts, do i get them for 86-93 or for the 94-newer??
You already lose a little compresion travel with the newer spindles, don't compound that with the wrong struts. You can also add Maximum Motorsport camber/caster plates to add roughly 1" of compresion travel.

Researching further, the sn95 spindle lowers the strut mounting point by .5" compares to the fox one. I thought it raised it. However, what I said about the sn95 struts being longer is true, I've held them side by side myself. If you don't ever plan on lowering, the later struts could work. I'd rather have the full travel available with the fox length units.
I did some searching around and there are a few people that have 94+ struts along with the 94+ spindles and they work fine. This is the setup that i'm currently building.
As you know, I have the 95 spindles, and I am running the Bullitt Tokico struts right now with stock springs & CC plates and no rubber isolators with no problems. My ride height a a bit lower than stock due to the missing isolators (like 26" at the fender center to the ground). I don't think they have bottomed out, although I have hit a few big bumps around town. I got all 4 of the Bullitt shocks and struts new for like $175 shipped, so it was a bargain vs the Fox struts to me.
I would say, if you have CC plates adjusted up for maximum strut travel, you can use the SN95 struts safely as long as you don't slam the car. But the Fox ones would give you a bit more leeway if it is lowered.
thomas, the car isnt lowered at all. it is going to be a street/strip car though. I either want to go with an adj strut up front or something along the lines of a lakewood 70/30. I am going to get CC plates too, should i get them in the fox style or sn95?
Unless you were going coilovers, you can just get the Fox CC plates. The SN95 ones have 4 bolts, and would require drilling an additional hole, if they would even fit a 86. If you are not lowering it, you could really go either way with the struts.
Yes, get the fox C/C plates. They are even different from 87-89 and 90-93. They moved the strut tower in 90 to make room for the cobra booster they thought they were going to use in all mustangs.
