You really need an impact Wrench to remove the top nuts on the strut.I've seen people put some large vice grips on the strut shaft underneath and use a breaker bar up top.I took my car to the local tire shop and had them loosen the strut nuts and I finished up at home. They tightened them for me when I was finished (it's 1/2 mile away). If the strut mount is alright, you can leave it alone and not worry about those three nuts on each one.If it is bad,it'll have to be removed obviously. To remove the bottom two bolts, remove the caliper and rotor, grab a breaker bar,and make it happen. They are on there tight....really tight.Once those are removed, you can remove the strut assembly (strut and strut mount) from the bottom, just pull the strut out.
