Is it me or does the front wheel appear to come off the ground? This is my second time to the track ever and I'm hooked
View attachment 327142
I had seen a pic from the previous owner where the left wheel was off the ground (frame twist?) but it appeared that the right was planted. He launched at 4K on the tach. It was my first time with slicks and I wasn't trying to break anything so I was taking off from idle. I still haven't figured out how to properly warm up the tires, being a stick and no line locks I'm just spinnin the tires while rollin till I run out out room. any sugjestions???

the run was:
R/T- .527
60- 1.939
330- 5.623
1/8- 8.505 84.56Mph
1000- 11.079
1/4- 13.388 96.33Mph

best run of the day was:
R/T- .422
60- 1.807
330- 5.305
1/8- 8.198 86.12Mph
1000- 10.631
1/4- 12.667 112.78Mph

So much for not breaking anything, after the next burnout the bypass connector for the supercharger broke loose at the flat plate on the intake tube. The car dropped idle and was sputering and smokin. I was nervous! Using JB weld to hold a pastic connector that is subject to boost is not a good idea It was fixed that night and is ready for this weekend! Previous owner said he's ran it 11.6. I've got some work to do :Track:

I swear it looks like the tire stops rotating after the second head and then comences again after the third head. Maybe it's just the camera, either way... I'm havin a blast!

it does indeed appear to stop rotating for a split second there

Well I watched the video and paid attention to where you guys said the tire stopped spinning.

If you have ever seen a tire and rim at speed there is a time when it appears to not be moving at all. Thats what happens here. I can assure you that if you launch, and get the front tires spinning, then they come up in the air, why would that tire stop spinning? There would be nothing to immediately stop it from spinning and for the split second a car can get a 17" wheel in the air, it isn't going to completely stop, or even slow down much.

I hate being the one to say this stuff, but I would say that tire doesn't appear to be close to lifting off the ground. The suspension has a lot of traveling to do to get a tire off the ground, and launching off idle with a 1.9x 60' time with 17" wheels up front in a 300-350 rwhp car, I can't see that happening.

Looks like fun though, makes me jeleous your going to the track and all.

Yeah I did ruin the fun, but I also have a pic that people said looked like the left front was in the air, and I was all excited. The truth is it isn't (or thats what I tell myself) and without that perfect pictureor video, it's all only speculation.

Pic for proof. BTW this was my dad driving (I heard some noises in the rear wanted him to check on it) and he went a solid... 14.1 @ 98 HAHA.

Agreed 100%. But looking in your sig, it seems that you have a pretty stout setup capable of over 400rwhp, so that 11.6 is possible with a nasty 60ft. I'm not seeing enough mph in your runs though. You say it's SCT tuned which usually means dyno tuned, do you know what it put down?

Brian, as far as your picture, I'm gonna say that left front is off the ground. There's a lighter colored area around the outside edge of the whole tire that appears to be a couple inches off the ground, and there's a shadow under the tire.

Damn, I really want to pull a tire or two on the street...

That mph isn't 11.6 material, but the combo is. Just need to get out there with it more.

See thats why the picture has everyone differing on it. One says yes, one says no. To me, not good enough of a pic to say yes, and every other pic the car has no weight transfer, yet cuts better 60's.

I've only had the car for about a month now so I'm still feeling her out. I've yet to put the pedal to the metal. I only have one dyno sheet from P.O. and it put down 380 Rwhp/ 388 torque at 7.87 boost. I believe P.O. said the car ran lean so they couldn't max it out and it was tuned after that run but don't have the numbers. Any estimates on what the Rwhp should be? i"m guestimating 410-435, maybe just wishfull thinking

This is the other pic I was talkin about, not me driving, but I know it's possible!

IMO, it doesn't count unless the rear bumper is dragging on the ground.

Looks like a helluva lotta fun, nevertheless.
