I have a 98 mustang gt and i have been looking into the various cat-back systems availiable for a few months now. I was set on gettting the American Thunder stystem until the other night when I found out that Ford Racing makes a kit for my year. I was wondering if anyone in the forum had any experience with the Ford Racing cat-backs and what their pros and cons are. thanks

I've got one on my 2002; love it. They are OEM-quality stainless, bigger tubing and high-flow mufflers cf. the stock system. They're made by Arvin-Meritor, who makes the stock system, so perfect fit. Same tips as stock.

Sound is slightly louder than stock at idle, but much deeper/throatier. At WOT sound is pleasingly loud, but not flowmaster loud. Downshifting gives you a nice gurgle too.

Overall, it's a good system for those who want a little more volume/musclecar sound, but don't want to scare little children or attract the wrong sort of attention.

Bigconig has some great videos of his Mustang with the system...do a search on FRPP exhaust and you should find them (there was a similar thread just the other day).

thanks alot! i watched the video and i acutally think it sounds better than the flowmaster kit. I have an off road h-pipe and I was affraid that the two chambers would be a bit overkil. I live in a highly populated city, and I don't want to make any throuble. Also, here in michigan the weather and the salt are never the greatest, so the fact that it is stainless would play an important role in my decision. I guess now I have made up my mind, all I gotta do is find one for cheap!! thanks again
