FRPP Lowering springs

So I bought the Ford Racing springs today and I havent installed them yet but the guy told me that the eibachs are so much better. They both look about the same when it comes to styling but I have heard nothing but good things about the FRPP springs and I have heard some bad things about the Eibachs. On my 98 when I had it I had the Eibachs and it looked good but didnt care for the performance aspect of them.

What do you all think. Is it just matter of opinion?

Also I was told theyre pretty easy to install as long as you have access to a lift. If anybody has done this please let me know and it didnt come with instructions which I never use but always take a look at to make sure Im doing it right so if you have istructions, it would be appreciated.

You can probably use directions for any suspension kit, they will all be pretty much the same. I did my suspension with jackstands, just did the rear then the front. You will need a spring compressor to do the front springs. If you ever plan to upgrade the shocks and struts it would make sense to do it now. I think putting lowering springs on the stock shocks and struts wears them out faster.
 
Oh alright. Thank you all. Now are you sure I need a spring compressor? I was told that as long as I had a lift it'd just be really easy to get in and out. I do have a lift and a spring compressor if I do need it. And I also do at sommmme point plan on doing shocks and struts but dont have near enough money for everything I wanna do right now so Im gonna do the spring and just depends on whether I even decide to do the shocks and struts or money. Everyone knows how that is
 
I don't think you can get the spring off the struts without killing yourself without a spring compressor. Might be able to, but I wasn't going to try it. I am sure that the lift will help, but the strut and spring come out together and you take a big nut off the top of the strut to take the spring off, if I remember right. Good Luck.
 
Definitely use spring compressors unless you plan on visiting the ER at minimum! Always better taking an extra 10-20 minutes (if that) than playing Russian roulette with the spring and strut mount:nonono: You don't need a lift to do it. If you have 4 jack stands, you can do all 4 corners at once. I was fine with just the pair of stands.
 
I got new struts, strut mounts...so I did not need a compressor, due to the fact that the old springs are on the old struts, and the shorter new springs (eibachs, which I love) did not need a compressor to get on the new struts, so I just put my new strut mounts on and wala! Perfect!

You will need a panhard rod although, many people say you can get away without using them. You can yes; the alignment will show all is well. But when I upgraded from stock wheels to 20" wheels, I defanitely could tell one side was sticking out further than the other.

if you think about it, your stock rod will shifter over atleast a good half inch to an inch if you a lowering your car down 1.5...it has to...there is no possible way it will not need adjusting.

Cheap if you buy the Edelbrock, couple places have them for $115 delvd. And an easy install.
 
With stock wheels you will be ok without the panhard bar. I have the same springs you are looking at, stock wheels and stock panhard bar and my rearend is not noticably off-center. Like windfarmer said, it I put wider wheels on then I am sure it will be more noticable. Please do not try the front end without a spring compressor, it is very dangerous. You don't need the compressor for the rear, once everything is unbolted just push the axel down with one hand and pull the spring out with the other.
 
You will not cause damage if you use the stock rod, only makes your axel shift off to the drivers side a bit.

Spend the $60 and get new Strut mounts (GT500) while your at it. May as well do shocks/struts too - then no compressor needed.
 
I replaced the springs and struts at the same time and I'm pretty sure I still used the spring compressor. He already said he owns one, so why risk hurting yourself over something stupid like trying to save 10 minutes.
 
I did reuse the old ones, I had just gotten my car about a week before I put the suspension in it so I did not learn in the forums to replace them with the GT500 units. I am not even sure they were available yet. No problems with the stock ones yet, hopefully they hang in there. I probably would have done a few things differently if I had done some more research.
 
yeah the forums are great, I hated mustangs, never knew anything about them...thought everyone had one...now I own one...and am pretty educated I would say on them. I would do many things different as well, if I was to restart.
 
I would never recommend doing it without a spring compressor. One of the most dangerous parts on a car. My old Automotive Tech teacher was a master mechanic (well still is) and hes had them break and explode and he almost got injured extremely badly. I used a really nice thousand dollar compressor and it still made both of us nervous. Id rather be safe than do it half assed
