I just got a 1988 saleen bone stock but when I test drove it, it was hard to get into gear. I thougt it was the clutch cable. I replaced the cable and the same thing. So I replaced the clutch, same thing. I replaced the tanny with a tremec from summit, some thing. Where do I go from here? The clutch padal is so hard to push down to get into gear.

Hows the clutch quadrant? What clutch did you put in? I'd say mess with the adjustment, if you have too much slack in the cable the pedal it will not fully disengage and make it hard to get in gear.

What is your problem, pushing the pedal down or getting it into gear.
Do you know if you have a firewall adjuster?

No fire wall adjuster.I have to adjust it from under the car.It is very hard to get into all gears. I put in the ford clutch from summit not the cobra

Aftermarket shifter?
If so, sounds like I'd look at the adjustment stops...

shift stops are there so you dont "overshift" and bend a shift fork. he can't even seem to get it into gear, so i would rule those out

dunno if it's aftermarket or not yet could be either. but im guessing stock because everything else was? stock tremec shifters dont have shift stops.

If the shift stops were adjusted to close to the shifter than you most likely would not be able to get it into gear at all, and if you could it would most likely then pop out of gear due to the shifter hitting the stop under acceleration.

So if you ask me, this problem has nothing to do with shift stops.

How is your linkage routed? Sometimes it can get in a bind.

take a few trips to the gym, you might just need some muscles... jk. id say invest in a firewall adjuster.

my FRPP HD clutch is stiff as hell, and as a hockey player...i love it. My dad has a very wide foot and has trouble getting my car into gear. His foot hits the dead pedal which doesnt engaged the clutch enough. This is because i have the Jegs high ramp quadrant. Which makes the pedal effort much short, but makes it so you need to push it in further than a stock quadrant. Somehow im guessing your not engaging the clutch fully.

oh it has nothing to do with muscles either, my father has 19'' calves
