Fuel Additives- Torco or Turbo 108?

Ok. I am looking into this for my car.

Torco- I have to order it over the internet and it is $18.

I was at Pep Boys getting oil and saw this Turbo Octane Boost 108 made by North American Oils.

The active ingredients are Methanol and T-Butyl Alcohol. 32 OZ. $8.

Now....has anyone heard of this? I haven't. Is it any good? Thoughts?

I've heard that these little cans of octane boost will only raise a tank of gas like .02 octane or something like that (estimating 13 gallons of gas in the tank).

I know Torco products come highly rated. As for on the shelf ocatane boosters don't waste your money! A full can of octane boost added to a full tank of 93 octane may raise your overall rating to 93.3 if that. Not worth it... take a look at adding some Toulene to your fuel as an alternative...

Cost...$4.50/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.2 Octane
20%...96.4 Octane
30%...98.6 Octane
Notes: Common ingredient in Octane Boosters in a can. 12-16 ounces will only raise octane 2-3 *points*, i.e. from 92 to 92.3. Often costs $3-5 for 12-16 ounces, when it can be purchased for less than $5/gal at chemical supply houses or paint stores.

also....how do you figure the mixtures? Is there a formula or site?

Toluene is 114 octane. So use this formula to figure what octane you get:

( Gallons_of_gas * Octane_of_gas ) + ( Gallons_of_toluene * 114 )
___________________________________________________
Total Gallons

This gives the octane of the mixture after you add toluene.

For example, the tank of an Audi A4 1.8TQ is 15.6 gallons. Filling it with 14.6 gallons of 92 octane and 1 gallon of toluene (114 octane) will yield a fuel mix of:

(14.6 * 92) + (1 * 114)
----------------- = 93.4
15.6

I have only used one can but the torco seems to be the real deal. I bought a case from http://www.octaneshop.com/ and on the main page is a lot of usefull info.
