Fuel filler gasket

noticed the smell of fuel for the past couple days.checked the injectors,nice and dry.all fuel lines from front to back,all fine.i found it at the fuel filler tube.
#1.whats it called?filler tube gasket?
#2.where can i find a new one?i checked online at autozone,napa,kragen,nothing.

That's the filler neck grommet. I had to go to the Ford dealer last year and fork over about $30 bucks for one.

.thanks.did the dealer have it in stock,or did they have to order it.i hate waiting.if they have to order it,i'll just order from cj ponyparts,and save two trips to the dealer.

The local dealer I went to had it in stock. It seems to be a common problem. The parts guy even thought the price was a little steep. He said Ford just changed vendors for it and thus the price hike. Good Luck.

did you have to drop the tank to replace it?if so,i'll wait til next weekend when i'm out of gas to replace it.

Yes I did. It is a little tricky getting the filler neck lined up with the screw holes (around the gas cap) when reinstalling the tank but overall not bad.

make sure you use some oil for easy installation.
